Introduction to DataV design assets

View and add assets

1. Log on to the DataV console .
2. On the My Visualizations page, click Edit above the project that you created.

3. In the canvas editor, click Asset List in the upper-left corner.

   The Asset List area displays the All Assets module by default.

4. In the All Assets list, click Assets on the left to open the asset categorization panel.

   

   In the asset categorization panel, you can preview the official DataV design assets that are regularly updated.

   Note

   Design assets are updated from time to time. When an asset is updated, a small red dot appears in the upper-right corner of the asset icon.

5. The secondary panel in the Assets module contains six asset types: Video, Icon, Decoration, Background Box, Decorative Strip, and Illustration. For the Icon, Decoration, and Background Box asset types, you can click the drop-down list in the tertiary panel to switch to the required asset list.

   Note

6. To add an asset, click it in the Assets panel or drag it onto the canvas. For example, you can add the video and icon assets shown in the livestream for this topic.

Upload and use custom image design assets

This topic uses the built-in DataV Single Image widget as an example. You can call the widget and change the Background Image configuration item of the Single Image widget to use a custom image resource. This replaces the image in the Single Image widget. Perform the following steps:

1. Click the Single Image widget on the canvas. In the configuration panel that appears on the right, under Background Image, click Change.

2. In the Select the asset to change dialog box, you can view all added design assets and select one of the same type to change the configuration item.

3. On the My Design Assets tab, click the icon to upload a local image file.

   Note

   Avoid using large image files. Large files can cause loading timeouts or failures.

4. After you upload a local image asset, click Refresh on the My Design Assets tab to refresh the asset list.

5. Select the local asset that you just uploaded and click OK. This updates the image for the Single Image widget.

6. Optional: Click Change again to open the My Design Assets tab. In the upper-left corner, click the drop-down list to view the image groups and switch to a different one.

7. Optional: Click the Official Design Assets tab to view all official DataV image assets. In the upper-left corner, click the categorization drop-down list to view the asset groups and select the one that you need.

8. Optional: Click the asset search box on the right side of the interface to search for assets. Click the sort drop-down list on the right to sort all assets based on specific criteria.

Upload and use custom video or model design assets

You can use the built-in Video or Model widget to add a custom video or model. Change the Video URL/Model URL setting in the Video or Model widget to replace the default video or model resource. For detailed steps, see the Upload and use custom image design assets section of this topic.

Manage design assets

1. On the Official Design Assets tab, click Go to Management in the upper-right corner to open the design asset management page in the DataV console.

   You can manage design assets on the My Assets > Design Assets page in the console. This page displays all your asset folders.

2. The management page features a group module on the left that displays all your groups. Click the + icon next to My Groups to create a custom group. You can also switch to an existing group by clicking it. The design assets for the selected group are displayed on the right.

3. In the group module, you can rename or delete a group. If you delete a group, the design assets from that group are moved to the Ungrouped state by default.

4. On the design asset display page on the right, you can view the size of the design assets. The management panel lets you upload custom design asset files, such as images, videos, and models.

   Note

   You can upload files by dragging local files from your computer into the dashed box or by clicking inside the box. Image files should not exceed 4 MB. If a file is too large, the upload may time out and fail.

5. After you upload a file, a dialog box appears where you can add the asset to an existing group or create a new one. Click Done in the lower-right corner to complete the upload and add the asset to the group. The new asset is then displayed on the asset management page.

   Note

   The procedure and notes for uploading video files are the same as for image files.

6. Above the design asset management panel, you can use the search box to find an asset by its name, address, or text within the image. You can also click the Type drop-down list to filter assets by type, or click the Sort drop-down list to change the sorting order.

7. Hover over an asset on the Asset Management page to display several function buttons. Click the View button to view the asset details. If the asset is a video, you can click Play to watch it and click the camera icon to capture a thumbnail.

8. Click the Change Group button above an asset to open the Select Group dialog box. In the dialog box, you can change the asset's group.

9. Above the asset, you can copy the asset link or click the Delete button. You can click the lower-left corner of the asset to rename it.

10. The design asset management page now supports batch file uploads. For example, to upload multiple image files, you can select them on your local computer and click Open to add them to the upload dialog box.
