A workspace in DataV-Note is the basic unit for managing projects, members, and permissions. All project development occurs within a specific workspace. This topic explains how to create, manage, and add members to workspaces.

Basic workspace operations

The following table describes the main workspace operations.

Actions

Description

Create a workspace

After you activate DataV-Note, a default workspace is available for immediate use. You can create new workspaces to organize projects by business unit or isolate project data.

Add members to a workspace

To collaborate on development in a workspace, you can add RAM users (sub-accounts) as members.

Manage a workspace

After creating a workspace, you can view or modify its configuration, or delete it when it is no longer needed.

Switch workspaces

Log on to the DataV-Note console. In the upper-left corner, hover over the image icon next to the workspace name, and then click the name of the target workspace. You can also search for a workspace by keyword.

  2. In the upper-left corner, hover over the image icon next to the workspace name, and then click Manage.

On the workspace management page, you can perform operations on workspaces, such as creation, member management, and modification and deletion.

The following table describes the key parameters.

    Parameter

    Description

    Workspace name

A custom name for the workspace.

    Workspace ID

A unique identifier for the workspace. The workspace ID must be unique.

    Workspace administrator

A user with this role has all permissions for the workspace, including managing members, projects, data sources, and reports. For more information, see Role permissions.

  4. Click OK. The workspace is created.

After the workspace is created, you can create projects to perform data analysis and generate reports.

Add members and grant permissions

You can add RAM users to a workspace and grant them permissions for collaborative development. Member management is handled at the workspace level, allowing you to control access to different features by assigning roles.

Role permissions

When you add a member to a workspace, they are granted permissions based on their assigned role. DataV-Note supports the following roles:

  • Product Administrator: By default, this role has the AliyunDataVFullAccess permission policy, which grants full access to all DataV-Note operations.

    Note
    • The main account that activates DataV-Note is a Product Administrator by default and has the AliyunDataVFullAccess permission policy.

    • You can go to the RAM console, and on the Permission Management > Permission Policy page, search for AliyunDataVFullAccess to view the policy details.

  • Member: Can perform operations within their assigned workspace, such as creating projects, data sources, and analysis reports, but cannot create or delete workspaces.

The following table details the permissions for each role.
