You can configure a RAM user or RAM role as an alert contact. When a running task triggers a configured alert rule, DataWorks sends alert notifications in a specified language, such as Chinese or English, to the contact. This helps your team promptly detect and address exceptions. You can also configure an alternate alert contact. If an alert notification cannot be delivered to the primary alert contact, the platform forwards the notification to the alternate alert contact.

Notes

Configuration details
- When you configure a mobile phone number for an alert contact, you must include the country code. Phone call alerts are supported only for mobile numbers in the Chinese mainland. For example, a phone number in the Chinese mainland must be entered as 86139********.
  
  Note
  To send alerts to mobile numbers outside the Chinese mainland, you need to create a custom webhook service. DataWorks pushes messages to your webhook service, which then forwards them to the specified mobile number.
- If the email addresses for both the alert contact and the alternate alert contact are incorrect, the platform sends alert notifications to the recipient configured for messages about overdue payments, service suspensions, and upcoming resource releases in your Alibaba Cloud account's Basic Receiving Management. In this case, the alert contacts configured in DataWorks will not receive alert notifications.
- The alerting language that you configure in Management Center also applies to Operation Center. When an alert rule is triggered, Operation Center sends notifications by text or email in the configured language.
Permissions

Alibaba Cloud account owners, RAM users with AliyunDataWorksFullAccess permissions, tenant administrators, and security administrators can configure alert contact information. You can also create custom roles and grant them permissions to view alert resources, set the maximum number of alerts, and view contacts. For more information, see Custom RAM policies.
Contact information updates

If an alert contact's information changes outside of DataWorks, the contact must sign in to DataWorks once to synchronize the updates.

Prerequisites

You have a RAM user or RAM role in a DataWorks workspace.

Create a RAM user or RAM role. For more information, see Create a RAM user and RAM role overview.
Add the user or role to a DataWorks workspace. For more information, see Add members to a workspace.

Accessing the alert contacts page

Log on to the DataWorks console. In the target region, click More > Management Center in the left-side navigation pane. Select a workspace from the drop-down list and click Go to Management Center.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Alert Settings > Alert Contacts to go to the Alert Contacts page for the current account.

On this page, you can set a RAM user or RAM role as an alert contact. When a task reports an error, DataWorks sends an alert notification by text or email in the specified language to the contact to handle errors promptly. You can also configure an alternate alert contact, which receives notifications if they cannot be delivered to the primary recipient.

Configure a RAM user as an alert contact

On the RAM User tab, you can view the list of RAM users added to the current account, along with their display names, phone numbers, and email addresses. If a Mobile Phone Number or Email is not configured for a RAM user, the user is not an alert contact.

Important

If a target RAM user is not displayed in the list, make sure the user is added to at least one workspace.

On the Alert Contacts page, you can customize the contact methods and alerting language for an alert contact.

In the Operation column for the target RAM user, click Edit.
Configure the Mobile Phone Number and Email, and select an Alert Language.

For the alerting language, you can select Auto, Chinese, or English.
Note
- You must include the country code. For example, a phone number in the Chinese mainland must start with 86.
- Phone call alerts are supported only for mobile numbers in the Chinese mainland. Users on the Alibaba Cloud China Website can receive voice calls only in Chinese.
If you select Auto, the platform selects the language based on where you registered your Alibaba Cloud account:
- Alibaba Cloud China Website: The alerting language is Chinese.
- Alibaba Cloud International Website and other sites: The alerting language is English.
Click Confirm. The contact method is added.

After the contact method is added, its status changes to Waiting for Activation. The method takes effect only after activation.

The contact must complete the activation using the message sent to their mobile phone.
Activate the contact method.

After you configure a mobile phone number or email address for the alert contact, you will receive a verification message by SMS or email. Follow the instructions in the message to activate the contact method.
Note
- The configured contact method takes effect only after activation.
- The activation link in the SMS or email message is valid for 24 hours. Check your phone or email and activate the contact method promptly.

Configure a RAM role as an alert contact

On the RAM Role tab, you can view the list of RAM roles added to the current account, along with their phone numbers and email addresses. If a Mobile Phone Number or Email is not configured for a RAM role, the role is not an alert contact.

In the Operation column for the target RAM role, click Edit.
Configure the Mobile Phone Number and Email, and select an Alert Language.

For the alerting language, you can select Auto, Chinese, or English.

Configure an alternate alert contact

If an alert notification cannot be delivered due to incorrect recipient information, the platform automatically forwards the notification to an alternate alert contact. You can configure a RAM user or RAM role from your DataWorks workspace as the alternate alert contact.
