When calling an API, add the IP addresses of the resource group to your data source's IP whitelist to ensure network connectivity and prevent access failures. This topic describes how to obtain the IP addresses for different types of resource groups and provides important notes on configuring IP whitelists.

IP addresses for shared resource groups

Before you create an API in Data Service, you must configure your data source. To ensure that Data Service can connect to your data source, add the IP addresses for the corresponding region from the following tables to your data source's IP whitelist.

Important

The IP CIDR blocks for shared resource groups may change due to underlying infrastructure scale-outs. For enhanced resource isolation, network connectivity, disaster recovery, and high availability, we recommend that you use serverless resource groups.

Whitelist addresses

IP addresses for exclusive resource groups

An exclusive resource group for Data Service can access data sources over the internet, in VPCs, or in on-premises data centers. The following table describes how to configure network settings to ensure network connectivity between the exclusive resource group for Data Service and data sources in different network environments.

In the navigation pane on the left, choose Public Network Access > Elastic IP Addresses. In the target region, click Create EIP. Note For more information, see Apply for an EIP. In the navigation pane on the left of the VPC console, choose NAT Gateway > Internet NAT Gateway. In the target region, click Create NAT Gateway. Note For more information, see Create an Internet NAT gateway. The NAT Gateway must be in the same region as the exclusive resource group for Data Service. Find the NAT Gateway that you created and click Management in the Actions column. On the instance details page, click the EIPs tab, and then click Associate EIP. In the dialog box, select an existing EIP, enter a name, and click Determine. On the SNAT Management tab, click Create SNAT Entry. Set Scope to vSwitch. From the Select vSwitch drop-down list, select the vSwitch that the exclusive resource group for Data Service uses. From the Select EIP drop-down list, select the EIP. Enter a custom Entry Name and click OK. Note The vSwitch that you select when you create the SNAT entry must be the same one used by the exclusive resource group for Data Service. Copy the public IP address from the created SNAT entry and add it to the IP whitelist of the data source. For more information, see Configure data sources.
The data source is deployed in a classic network.	Connectivity is not supported. Use a shared resource group instead.	Not applicable.

Add the IPv4 CIDR block of the vSwitch to the IP whitelist of your data source.

Create a CEN instance, attach network instances, purchase a bandwidth plan, set the cross-region bandwidth, and verify the connection. For more information, see Connect VPCs in the same region by using CEN or Connect network instances across different accounts and regions. Add the CIDR block of the vSwitch where the exclusive resource group for Data Service resides to the IP whitelist of the data source.
The data source is deployed in an on-premises data center.	The resource group connects directly.	Use Express Connect and Cloud Enterprise Network (CEN) to connect the VPC where the exclusive resource group for Data Service resides to the on-premises data center. Add the CIDR block of the vSwitch where the exclusive resource group for Data Service resides to the IP whitelist of the data source.

Configure data source IP whitelist

To prevent connectivity issues, add the IP addresses of your resource group to the data source's IP whitelist. The configuration details and notes vary based on the data source type.

For example, ApsaraDB RDS supports two whitelist modes: standard mode and enhanced whitelist mode. The whitelist group that you choose may affect the network connectivity between Data Service and your database.

If the ApsaraDB RDS instance uses standard mode:
- Standard mode does not distinguish between classic network and VPC whitelist groups.
- shared resource groups and exclusive resource groups for Data Service can use the same whitelist group configuration.
  Note
  In standard mode, whitelisted IP addresses can access the RDS instance from both a classic network and a VPC.
If the ApsaraDB RDS instance uses enhanced whitelist mode:
- Enhanced whitelist mode distinguishes between classic network and VPC whitelist groups.
  Note
  In enhanced whitelist mode, you must specify a network type for each whitelist group. For example, an IP address whitelisted for a classic network cannot access the RDS instance from a VPC, and vice versa.
- When an exclusive resource group for Data Service connects to the database over a VPC, use a VPC whitelist group.
- When a shared resource group accesses a data source in a VPC (for example, an ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instance configured with a VPC endpoint), you must use a VPC whitelist group.
- When a Data Service resource group connects to the database by using a public or classic network endpoint, you must use a classic network whitelist group.
If you switch the whitelist mode of an ApsaraDB RDS instance from standard mode to enhanced whitelist mode:
ApsaraDB RDS copies the standard IP whitelist to both a classic network whitelist group and a VPC whitelist group.

Other notes on whitelist configuration:

Configuring an IP whitelist does not affect the normal operation of the ApsaraDB RDS instance.
The default whitelist group (default) cannot be deleted. You can only clear its entries.
Do not modify or delete system-generated groups, such as ali_dms_group (the IP whitelist group for DMS) and hdm_security_ips (the IP whitelist group for DAS), to avoid disrupting these services.
Note
We recommend that you create a separate whitelist group for DataWorks.
By default, an IP whitelist contains only 127.0.0.1, which means no external IP address can access the ApsaraDB RDS instance.
