Data Asset Governance

Updated at:

Data Asset Governance helps you manage and optimize data assets across your DataWorks workspaces. You can configure governance tools, create governance plans, detect and resolve data issues, and analyze asset health to improve data quality, reduce costs, and ensure security compliance.

Overview

Data Asset Governance automatically detects issues across data storage, task computing, code development, data quality, and security based on preconfigured governance plans. It quantifies governance effectiveness through health scores and visualizes results via governance reports and leaderboards from global, workspace, and individual perspectives.

The following sections describe the key capabilities of Data Asset Governance:

  • Configure governance tools: Set up check items, governance items, governance units, and notification settings to define the governance framework for your organization.

  • Data governance: Create governance plans, handle check events before task deployment, process governance issues from the to-do list, and use automated governance features such as graceful undeployment and materialized views.

  • Data asset management and analysis: Monitor asset health, analyze resource consumption from the development, usage, and resource type perspectives, and manage business asset metadata.
