DataWorks allows you to perform batch operations, such as changing the owner of multiple nodes, resources, and functions. You can also commit and deploy these changes to the production environment in a single batch. This topic explains how to use the batch operation feature.

Limitations

This feature is available only in DataWorks Standard Edition and later.

Procedure

Nodes, resources, and functions

  1. Log on to the DataWorks console. Go to the DataStudio page and click Batch Operation in the top toolbar.

  2. Modify objects in batches.

    1. On the Batch Operation page, click the Nodes, Resource, or Function tab to select the object type.

    2. At the top of the tab, filter the objects by Workflow and Owner.

      Note
      • For batch synchronization tasks, you can filter by resource group for Data Integration, source and destination types, and data sources.

      • The filter conditions for Nodes, Resource, or Function are not completely consistent. The actual UI prevails.

    3. In the filtered list, you can select the Nodes, Resource, or Function to be processed in batches.

    4. After making your selections, choose a batch operation from the options at the bottom of the page.

      Note
      • When performing batch operations on nodes, if a dialog box asks whether you want to forcefully modify configurations, select Yes to modify nodes locked by other users. Select No to modify only the nodes that you have locked.

      • Batch modifications and commits on this page affect only the development environment. To apply these changes to the production environment, you must publish the committed changes from the deployment page.

  3. Click Historical Operation Records in the upper-right corner to view the details of past operations.

Data synchronization nodes

You can batch modify the resource group for Data Integration, source, and destination for data synchronization nodes.

  1. Log on to the DataWorks console. Go to the DataStudio page and click Batch Operation in the top toolbar.

  2. Modify objects in batches.

    1. On the Batch Operation page, click the Nodes tab.

    2. Filter the data synchronization nodes you want to modify by Node Type. You can then select multiple Batch Synchronization or Real-time Synchronization nodes.

In addition to node type, you can further filter the nodes by other criteria, such as the Node Name/ID search box, Workflow, Owner, scheduling resource group, Engine Type, engine instance, Source Type, Source, Destination Type, Destination, and Commit Status.

    3. After making your selections, choose a batch operation from the options at the bottom of the page.

      1. Click More at the bottom of the page and select Modify Data Synchronization Task. Other options include Modify Scheduling Resource Group, Modify Data Generation Task, Modify Rerun Property, Modify Scheduling Type, Modify Scheduling Cycle, Modify Timeout Period, Favorite/Unfavorite, and Delete.

        Note

If you do not see this option, check whether the Type of the selected nodes is Batch Synchronization or Real-time Synchronization.

      2. In the Modify Data Synchronization Task dialog box, use the Modification drop-down list to select whether to modify the Resource Group for Data Integration, Data Source, or Destination, and then configure the new settings. Note that batch modifications are not validated, can cause task failures, and only allow changing to a data source of the same type. To override existing locks, select the force-modification option. Finally, select the I acknowledge the risks and confirm this operation checkbox and click OK.

    4. Click Historical Operation Records in the upper-right corner to view the details of past operations.
