Alibaba Cloud provides automatic failure migration for Dedicated Hosts (DDHs) to reduce the business impact of physical hardware failures. When this feature is enabled, if a DDH fails, the system automatically migrates the ECS instances on the DDH to a healthy DDH. This topic describes how to enable or disable automatic failure migration after you create a DDH.
When you create a Dedicated Host (DDH), the Automatic failure migration switch is enabled by default. If you do not manually disable this switch, you do not need to enable it again.
Limits
DDHs that use local SSDs, such as i2, do not support manual migration or automatic failure migration.
Notes
If a DDH that uses local SSDs fails, you can submit a ticket to request a manual migration. However, the data on the local disks is lost after the migration.
After a DDH is migrated due to a failure, the DDH ID and the metadata of its ECS instances, such as instance IDs, private IP addresses, and public IP addresses, remain unchanged. However, the machine code of the DDH changes because the physical server is replaced.
If you do not enable automatic failure migration and a DDH fails, you must submit a ticket to request a healthy replacement DDH.
Procedure
Log on to the ECS console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose Instances & Images >
> Dedicated Hosts. In the top navigation bar, select the region and resource group of the resource that you want to manage.
Find the target DDH. In the Host ID/Name column, hover the pointer over the host ID or name, and then click the
icon next to the host name.In the Edit Host Information dialog box, click
to enable or disable Automatic failure migration as needed.
Click OK.
Result
After you configure automatic failure migration, find the target DDH. In the Actions column, click Details. On the Host Information tab, view the information under Automatic Failure Migration.

If a DDH is in the 'Alert' status, you can call the RedeployDedicatedHost operation to migrate the DDH.
