DirectMail provides multiple email sending methods, flexible email settings, multi-dimensional data statistics, and additional services to help you send, manage, and track emails at scale.

Multiple email sending methods

DirectMail supports three sending methods. Choose based on your use case:

  • Console: Manage configurations and send emails directly in the DirectMail console—no pre-existing email account required. Create recipient lists and email templates, send batch emails, and view data statistics.

  • API: Send emails programmatically with a secure, highly extensible interface for custom workflows and automated sending.

  • SMTP: Use the standard SMTP protocol to integrate DirectMail with your existing mail client or application—no additional interface adaptation required.

Email settings

The Email Settings page in the DirectMail console lets you configure:

  • Domains, sender addresses, email tags, and email templates: Set up and manage the core components of your sending identity and content.

  • IP protection: Restrict sending to specified IP addresses only. When enabled, emails cannot be sent from unauthorized IP addresses—reducing the risk of account compromise.

  • Asynchronous notification: Receive email delivery results via Alibaba Cloud Message Service without polling the API.

Data statistics

DirectMail provides delivery and engagement metrics across multiple dimensions so you can monitor performance and act on delivery issues quickly.

  • View delivery metrics: email requests, emails sent successfully, emails failed to send, invalid addresses, and arrival rates.

  • Use email tags to segment delivery results and track performance by campaign, content type, or any custom category.

  • Track engagement: email opens, clicks, open rates, and click-through rates (CTRs).

Additional email services

  • Recipient lists: Manage your recipient lists centrally to simplify bulk sending and list maintenance.

  • Email templates: Create reusable templates to personalize email content at scale.

  • Email queuing and scheduling: DirectMail automatically queues messages and optimizes delivery timing to improve arrival rates and comply with receiving domain guidelines—preventing bulk sends from being blocked by internet service providers (ISPs).
