Network fees

更新时间:
复制 MD 格式

DBS charges network traffic fees for cross-region backups from the RDS, PolarDB, or MongoDB console, and for backup set downloads via public endpoints in the RDS console. These fees apply to RDS MySQL, RDS PostgreSQL, RDS SQL Server, PolarDB for MySQL, and MongoDB.

Considerations

Management operations involving cloud disk replacement, such as standby database rebuilds, can increase cross-region backup network traffic for RDS cloud disk instances, leading to additional charges (billable item code: NetworkOutDuplicationSize).

Note

For example, certain DDL operations on an RDS cloud disk instance that cause excessive standby database lag may trigger an automatic standby rebuild to maintain service stability, increasing cross-region backup network traffic charges.

Network fees (pay-as-you-go)

Network fees for cross-region backups

  • Network fees for cross-region backups of ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL (local disk), ApsaraDB RDS for PostgreSQL, ApsaraDB RDS for SQL Server, PolarDB for MySQL, PolarDB for PostgreSQL, and ApsaraDB for MongoDB.

  • Data transfer fees for cross-region backups of RDS for MySQL (cloud disk) instances.

    Note
    • By default, RDS for MySQL (cloud disk) instances use exclusive mode. You can submit a ticket to use general-purpose mode (view fees for general-purpose mode).

    • Only RDS for MySQL (cloud disk) instances support exclusive mode.

Exclusive mode provides higher scheduling priority and bandwidth limit than general-purpose mode, at higher cost. Recommended for high-performance cross-region backup transfers.

Network packages (subscription)

DBS network packages offset network fees for cross-region backups and backup set downloads. Each package is valid for one year, and larger packages offer greater discounts, with savings of 20% to 60% compared to pay-as-you-go rates. Excess traffic is billed pay-as-you-go. For information about DBS network packages and how to purchase them, see Purchase a DBS network package.

Deduction rules

Item

Description

Deduction method

  • Daily, the system calculates total network usage from cross-region backups and backup set downloads per instance, then deducts it from your data transfer plan capacity. Usage exceeding the plan capacity is billed pay-as-you-go.

  • A 1 TB data transfer plan provides 1 TB of deduction capacity for one year. Network Package Deduction Example.

Deduction order

Deductions apply to the oldest instance bills first.

Example: Data transfer plan deduction

Assume you purchase a 1 TB (1,024 GB) data transfer plan for an RDS MySQL instance in China (Hangzhou). During a billing cycle, you use 1,000 GB for cross-region backups and 800 GB for backup set downloads. In this example, the cross-region backup is billed first. Deductions:

  1. Calculate the plan capacity consumed by the cross-region backup.
    1,000 GB (Usage) × 0.625 (Deduction Factor) = 625 GB

  2. Calculate the remaining capacity in your data transfer plan.
    1,024 GB (Initial Capacity) - 625 GB (Consumed) = 399 GB

  3. Calculate the download usage covered by the remaining capacity. The remaining 399 GB of plan capacity is applied to the 800 GB of download usage.
    399 GB (Remaining Capacity) / 1 (Deduction Factor) = 399 GB

  4. Calculate the pay-as-you-go overage.
800 GB (Total Download Usage) - 399 GB (Covered by Plan) = 401 GB

Note

For an instance in the China (Hangzhou) region, the deduction factor for a cross-region backup is 0.625, and the factor for a backup set download is 1.
