Global Traffic Manager 3.0 3.0 notifies specified contacts by email, SMS, or other channels when health checks detect issues, helping you promptly identify and address service risks.
How it works
-
Health check: GTM continuously performs health checks on configured addresses and address pools.
-
Status evaluation: When a health check fails, GTM marks the address or address pool as unavailable.
-
Alert triggering: An alert event is triggered when the status changes to unavailable or is restored to available.
-
Notification sending: GTM sends a notification about the event to the specified alert contacts based on the configured alert rules and notification methods.
Procedure

NoteCloud Monitor phone alerts are built-in — no additional channel configuration is required. To receive phone alerts, ensure the following:
-
The alert contact has a valid phone number and has been added to an alert contact group.
-
When creating alert rules (for products such as ECS or EMR), select the alert contact group and set the alert severity to Critical. Cloud Monitor then automatically sends notifications by phone, text message, email, and webhook.
-
-
(Optional) Activate the email address and phone number.
If you specify an email address and phone number, their status is Pending Activation by default. The contact must click the activation links in the email and text message within 24 hours to receive alert notifications. After activation, the email address and phone number appear in the contact list.
-
-
Create an alert contact group and add the new contact.
In the Create Contact Group dialog box, enter a Group Name and Remarks. In the Select Contacts area, select the target contact from the Existing Contacts list and click the right arrow button to move them to the Selected Contacts list. Click OK.
Step 2. Configure alerts
Two alert configurations are available: Custom Alert Configuration and Inherit Global Alert Configuration.
Method 1: Custom Alert Configuration
Use a custom alert configuration when an access domain name has unique alerting requirements.
-
In Alibaba Cloud DNS - Global Traffic Manager, go to the Access Domain tab.
-
Click the Alert button next to the target access domain name.
Configuration Method: Select Custom Alert Configuration. You can then customize the alert group and notification methods.

ImportantChatbot notifications (DingTalk, WeCom, and Lark) may be subject to platform-specific rate limits. If the alert frequency is high, some notifications may not be delivered promptly. We recommend configuring email or text message notifications as a backup to ensure that you receive critical alerts.
Alert event types include address unavailable, address restored to available, address pool unavailable, and address pool restored to available. For each event type, you can select email notification, chatbot notification, and SMS notification.
Method 2: Global settings
If you select Use Global Alert Settings, the Global Alert Configuration applies when an alert is triggered for this access domain name. Use this method to apply consistent alert settings across domain names.
-
Switch to the Global Traffic Manager tab.
-
Select an Alert Group.
-
Notification Method:
Alert Event Type: Includes Address Unavailable, Address Restored to Available, Address Pool Unavailable, and Address Pool Restored to Available.
Notification Method: Includes Email, Bot, and SMS. Chatbot notifications support DingTalk, WeCom, and Lark.
