This topic describes how to analyze traffic data for your on-premises DNS.
Procedure

Go to the Alibaba Cloud DNS dashboard.

On the Resolution Dashboard tab, select Private Zone for the product type.

On the traffic analysis page, select On-premises DNS.
The global resolution statistics page displays four monitoring metrics: query volume (QPS), resolutions (RPS), forwarding recursive queries (RPS), and concurrent outgoing requests (QPS).
Use the Global Statistics to analyze resolution traffic.
Global Statistics
Request volume statistics
This section provides the following request volume metrics for global or specific resolution clusters:

Queries: The number of domain name queries that the DNS cluster receives per second.

Resolutions: The number of responses that the DNS cluster returns per second. failed resolutions refers to the number of responses with a status other than NOERROR.

Forwarding Recursive Queries: The total number of queries that the DNS cluster forwards or recursively resolves.

Concurrent Outgoing Requests: The number of concurrent outbound queries awaiting a response from an external source.
Request and response feature analysis

Query volume trends categorized by record type (for example, A, AAAA, CNAME, and MX).

The percentage distribution of resolution types for the selected time range.

The percentage of each resolution response status, along with the top domain names and source IP addresses for successful (NOERROR) and failed (NXDOMAIN and REFUSED) responses.
Resolution quality metrics

Cache Hit Ratio: The ratio of queries resolved from the cache to the total number of forwarded and recursive queries. Queries resolved by built-in authoritative servers are excluded from this calculation.

Success Rate: The percentage of domain name queries that return a NOERROR response.

Resolution Delay: The average latency for all domain name queries.
Select on-premises DNS in the filter area in the upper-right corner of the page and click the Resolution quality metrics tab to view the monitoring line charts for these three metrics.
Domain Statistics
You can view subdomain request volume statistics for a specified time period and sort the results in ascending or descending order.
Click the Domain name resolution statistics tab, select on-premises DNS, and then view the request volume for each subdomain under Subdomain Request Volume Ranking.
