OCR self-learning billing

OCR self-learning supports self-service training for two main task types: templates and models. You can configure templates or use a small amount of annotated data to train AI models that better meet your business needs.
The OCR self-learning service cannot be deactivated after you activate it. If you no longer need the service, no fees are incurred, provided you do not call published template or model API operations or use the online service. Keep your AppKey and AppSecret information secure.
Templates
OCR self-learning templates support two billing methods: pay-as-you-go and subscription resource plans. After you activate a template task service, the pay-as-you-go billing method is used by default. Each service includes a free quota of calls for testing. If you have a valid resource plan, it is used to deduct charges for the corresponding service type.
Deduction order: Free quota > Resource plan > Pay-as-you-go. After your free quota and resource plan are exhausted, the service automatically switches to pay-as-you-go billing.
Billable usage: Billable usage includes API operation calls for activated services and online usage.
Free quota
After you activate a task for OCR self-learning, your account receives a free quota. You can use this quota to call template service API operations for free. After the free quota is exhausted, the service is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis or using a resource plan. Templates of the same task type share the free quota. The free quotas for each task type are as follows:

Resource plans
OCR self-learning template resource plans are available in different specifications to suit your business volume. You can purchase a suitable resource plan with a one-time payment based on your estimated usage.
Resource plans are valid for one year from the date of purchase. Billable calls made during the validity period are preferentially deducted from the resource plan. Any unused quota in the resource plan automatically expires after the validity period.
If you purchase multiple resource plans for the same task, the one with the earliest expiration date is used first for deductions. If multiple resource plans for the same task have the same expiration date, deductions may be made from them randomly.
Before you purchase a resource plan, you must first activate the pay-as-you-go billing method for the corresponding product. This is required to ensure that the resource plan can be used.
Templates of the same task type can share a resource plan. Templates of different task types cannot share a resource plan.

If your resource plan expires or is exhausted, the service automatically switches to the pay-as-you-go billing method.
To prevent service disruptions due to an insufficient account balance when the service switches to pay-as-you-go, monitor your remaining resource plan calls and your Alibaba Cloud account balance.
Pay-as-you-go
After you activate an OCR service, the pay-as-you-go billing method is used by default. If you have not purchased a subscription resource plan, the service automatically switches to pay-as-you-go after your free quota is exhausted.
With pay-as-you-go, you are billed for the actual number of calls you make, with no upper limit. Billing is based on a tiered pricing model calculated over a calendar month. When your usage reaches a specific tier, the price for that tier is applied. Fees are deducted from your account monthly, and bills are issued on the first day of the following month.
For pay-as-you-go settlement, bills are issued and fees are deducted monthly. Alibaba Cloud checks your account balance hourly for overdue payments to determine whether to suspend your service. Therefore, ensure that your account has a sufficient balance to avoid service disruptions due to overdue payments.

Models
Commercial billing for Document and ticket information extraction, Table information extraction, and Long document information extraction officially began on August 23, 2023.
OCR self-learning models use the pay-as-you-go billing method. After you activate a model task service, the pay-as-you-go billing method is used by default. For models, the model training and model inference stages are billed separately.
Model training: You are charged for the duration of successful model training. Training durations of less than one minute are rounded up to one minute.
Model inference: You are charged based on the number of inference calls. Each service includes a free quota of calls for testing.
Pay-as-you-go for training
After you activate an OCR self-learning service, the pay-as-you-go billing method is used by default.
For the model training stage, you are billed on a pay-as-you-go basis for the actual training duration. There is no upper limit on the billable amount. The total charge is calculated by multiplying the training or deployment duration of a single model by its unit price. Charges for multiple models are cumulative.
The training duration is the time from the start of training until its successful completion. Durations of less than one minute are rounded up to one minute.
For pay-as-you-go settlement, bills are issued and fees are deducted from your account hourly. Ensure your account has a sufficient balance to avoid service disruptions due to overdue payments.

If your resource plan expires or is exhausted, the service automatically switches to the pay-as-you-go billing method.
To prevent service disruptions due to an insufficient account balance when the service switches to pay-as-you-go, monitor your remaining resource plan calls and your Alibaba Cloud account balance.
Overdue payments
Service suspension for overdue payments
If a deduction from your account fails due to an overdue payment, your service is suspended and you will receive a suspension notification. We will also send reminders 12 hours and 23 hours after your account becomes overdue. Note that if your service is suspended due to an overdue payment, API calls for the corresponding products will fail. Monitor your Alibaba Cloud account balance to prevent service disruptions.
Service restoration after payment
Your service is restored immediately after you settle the overdue payment.
Refund details
Fees incurred under the pay-as-you-go billing method are not refundable.
You can request a refund for a resource plan if it is completely unused and within its validity period. Refunds are not available for resource plans that have expired or have been partially or fully used.
Self-service refunds are not currently supported. To request a refund, contact us by joining our DingTalk group.
