Why do I need to set a username and password to access a Quorum node?

Alibaba Cloud BaaS requires username and password authentication to access Enterprise Ethereum - Quorum interfaces. Only authorized users can connect to the corresponding Quorum nodes, satisfying the basic security requirements of enterprise information systems.

Why does Byzantine Fault Tolerance consensus require at least 4 nodes?

Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) is the ability of a blockchain network to function correctly and reach consensus despite nodes failing or propagating incorrect information to peers.

With 3F+1 nodes, the network can tolerate the failure of F nodes. To tolerate a single node failure, you need at least 4 nodes in total. Istanbul BFT, the consensus algorithm used by Quorum, follows this same formula.

Why did my Quorum node show "creation failed" but then succeed later?

Node creation depends on numerous cloud resources and involves a complex installation sequence. If any step fails, the node status temporarily shows as failed. BaaS includes a built-in retry mechanism that automatically retries failed steps and completes the creation process.

If you see a "creation failed" status within the first 15–40 minutes, wait for the system to retry. The status typically changes to successful without any action on your part.

How do I apply for a free trial of Enterprise Ethereum - Quorum, and what are the limits?

To apply, click Free Trial (Quorum) on the BaaS home page and submit the application form. Alibaba Cloud staff will review your application and approve it if you meet the eligibility requirements.

During the free trial:

• Each user can create at most two blockchain networks.

• The trial period lasts two weeks.

• Alibaba Cloud notifies you via Message Center or email before the trial expires.

• After expiry, Alibaba Cloud automatically reclaims the associated resources.
