Why was the new customer I referred not protected and associated with another ambassador?

A protection period is created when a new user registers for an Alibaba Cloud account using an ambassador's referral link. To establish this protection, the user must access the referral link, click the Register button, and select Register with Password. The user then completes the registration using a mobile phone number and a Captcha. After registration, the user must log on to the account and access the referral link again to create an association record. During the protection period, the user cannot be associated with another ambassador.

Note

The association breaks and a protection period is not created if a new user accesses a referral link but then logs on using a third-party platform, such as Alipay or Taobao. A protection period is also not created if a user registers an account without first accessing a valid referral link.

An association, including one that is in a protection period, may be automatically broken after the user completes identity verification. This typically occurs if the user has another account that is registered with the same identity. If this other account is of a customer type that is ineligible for ambassador association, the system detects this and breaks the association.
