Variable management

Updated at:

In the navigation pane on the left, click Variable Management to open the Variable Management page. This page lets you create new variables and manage existing ones.

Create a variable

There are two ways to open the Create Variable window:

  • On the Variable Management page, click Create Variable > Create MDS Variable or Create Custom Variable in the upper-left corner.

  • In the Create Experiment wizard, at the Variables step, you can create variables in two ways:

    • In a client-side lab, click + Add Variable > Create MDS Variable to open the Create MDS Variable window.

    • In a server-side lab, click + Add Variable > Create Custom Variable to open the Create Custom Variable window.

Create an MDS variable

In the Create MDS Variable window, enter the following information:

  • Variable (Plan): Required. Enter a keyword to search for an MDS variable.

  • Variable Name: Required. Enter a custom name for the variable.

  • Variable Description: Optional. Enter a description for the variable.

Creating an MDS variable adds an existing key-value pair from Real-time Publish > Configuration Switch Management to the variable list.

Create a custom variable

In the Create Custom Variable window, enter the following information:

  • Variable Name: Required. Enter a name for the variable.

  • Variable Description: Optional. Enter a description for the variable.

  • key: Required. Enter the key for the variable.

  • value: Required. Enter the value for the variable.

After a variable is created, it is listed on the Variable Management page. You can also select this variable in the Variables step when you create an experiment.

Find and delete variables

The Variable Management page displays 10 variables per page. You can use the search box in the upper-right corner to find a variable.

On the Variable Management page, find the variable that you want to delete. In the Actions column, click Delete, and then click OK in the confirmation dialog box.
