Create a project
Each project has a unique ID, and data is isolated between projects. You can create different projects for different customers, or grant access to a project to another Alibaba Cloud account. This setup facilitates multi-party collaboration or independent delivery by an Operations Hub.
Procedure
- Log on to the IoT Platform console.

If you are using the IoT Platform for the first time, you must grant authorization, confirm the service terms, and complete identity verification to proceed. For more information, see Log on to the IoT Platform.
- On the console homepage, click Create New Project.
- Configure the project name and select a type.
Set the project name to your customer's name. This makes the project easier to identify for future forwarding, authorization, or statistical analysis.
There are two project types. Select a type based on your product's market position.
- Own Brand Project
This project type provides services for consumer-grade smart devices. It lets you create products, build your own branded apps, and sell your devices worldwide.
- Tmall Genie Ecosystem Project
In this project, you can create products and join the Tmall Genie IoT ecosystem. Your products can be controlled by all terminals in the Tmall Genie ecosystem, such as Tmall Genie speakers, the Tmall Genie App, Tmall Genie in-car systems, and AliGenie Inside smart devices. This project also enables voice, touchscreen, and multimodal interactions. It offers consumers services such as device control, status queries, broadcasts, scenarios, and proactive services.
- Own Brand Project
- Click OK.
After you create the project, it appears on the console homepage.
