Configure multi-language management

Multi-language management lets you configure the product and feature names displayed in the app interface. If you plan to sell your product internationally, you must configure these names in English or the local language. When the app language is switched, the app displays the names based on the configured multi-language information. This configuration is required for products used with a public app and for products under private brand projects.

Prerequisites

You have created a product in the console. For more information, see Create a product.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the IoT Platform console.
  2. Go to the Human-Machine Interaction page for the product.
  3. In the navigation pane on the left, click Multi-language Management.
  4. Configure the product name and feature names in Chinese.

    Product name

    The product name is a combination of Brand, Name, and Model. All three parts are required.
    • Supports Chinese characters, English letters, numbers, hyphens (-), at signs (@), and parentheses ().
    • The content cannot contain the word "test".
    • Cannot exceed 30 characters. A Chinese character counts as one character.
    		 Displayed in public apps or plugins in locations such as the To Be Paired list, the device list on the home page, and the top of the device interface.
    Feature name Product features are divided into simple and complex features. Configure the feature names and property values as needed. Displayed in public apps or plugins in locations such as the feature names on the device interface, the device feature selection in My Smart Home, and the device feature selection for Cloud Timing.
    Note If you use a public app, note the following for product name configuration:
    • If you have already configured the product name on the Product Display page, it is automatically displayed here. If you modify the name here, the Product Display page is updated accordingly. For more information, see Configure product display.
    • For product categories such as lights, sockets, and switches, if the Manually select from product list/search check box is selected on the Pairing GuideConfigure pairing guide.
  5. (Optional) Select another language tab and configure the names for that language. The configuration method is the same as that for Chinese.

    IoT Platform currently supports 24 languages, including Chinese (zh-CN), English (en-US), French (fr-FR), German (de-DE), Japanese (ja-JP), Korean (ko-KR), Spanish (es-ES), Russian (ru-RU), Italian (it-IT), Hindi (hi-IN), Portuguese (pt-PT), Polish (pl-PL), Dutch (nl-NL), Danish (da-dk), Czech (cs-CZ), Slovak (sk-SK), Swedish (sv-SE), Traditional Chinese (zh-Hant), Turkish (tr-TR), Hungarian (hu-HU), Vietnamese (vi-VN), Indonesian (in-ID), Arabic (ar-SA), and Thai (th-TH).

    Note
    • If your device will be sold internationally, you must configure multiple languages, such as English. Otherwise, when the app language is switched, the app may display text in Chinese or show other inaccuracies.
    • IoT Platform provides default multi-language configurations for some product categories under private brand projects, such as lights, sockets, and switches. You can use these configurations directly.

  6. Click Save to complete the configuration.
