You can edit the version of a topology to modify the topology.
Topology version lifecycle
The following figure shows the lifecycle of a topology version.
Status | Description | Supported operations |
|---|---|---|
Published | The topology version that is currently being used. After a version in the Editing or Archived state is published, the version enters the Published state. Only one version of each topology can be in the Published state. |
|
Editing | The draft topology version that is being created or edited. A baseline version allows for only one draft version that is in the Editing state. |
|
Archived | The earlier version is automatically archived after a later version is published. An archived version can be published again or be used as the baseline version of a draft version. |
|
Discarded | A discarded version is no longer used. A discarded version cannot be used as the baseline version of a new version. |

Click Add Version. In the dialog box that appears, select a baseline version for the new version.
ImportantYou can select only a published or archived version as the baseline version. A version can be selected as the baseline version for only one version being edited.

You can edit only versions in the Editing state. To edit a published version, create another version based on the target version.
In the version list, click Edit on the right side of the target version.

Publish a topology version
For a newly created topology, the initial topology version is in the Editing state by default. You must publish this version before you use the topology.
In the version list, click Publish on the right side of the target version.
You can publish only versions in the Editing or Archived state. If a version in the Published state exists for a topology, the version automatically enters the Archived state after a new version is published.
Click OK.
You can view the published tasks on the Task Topology tab.
Discard a topology version
After a new version is published, the previously published version enters the Archived state. You can discard an archived version. A discarded version cannot be published again or used as the baseline version of a new version.
In the version list, click Discard on the right side of the target version.
Click OK.
Delete a topology version
You can delete a discarded version from the version list. A deleted version cannot be recovered. Proceed with caution.
In the version list, click Delete on the right side of the target version.
