Tag filtering selects audiences from user tag datasets, which include custom tag datasets. This process finds audiences that match specific tag values.

Procedure

  1. Go to Workspace > User Insights > Audience Management > Audience Filter.image

  2. Click the Tag Filtering tab and select a user tag dataset from the Dataset drop-down list.

  3. Click the tag to use as a filter condition. In the dialog box that appears, select the tag values for the enumeration tag and click OK. For information about how to configure other tag types, see Set filter conditions for different tag types.

    • If you have management permissions for a user tag dataset, you can update it by clicking the 56 icon.

      Note

You can only update user tag datasets for which you have management permissions. You cannot update custom tag datasets from this page.

    • Select a tag from the Search tags drop-down list, or select a tag from a tag category.

    • To sort tags, select an option from the Tag Sorting drop-down list. You can sort by total popularity, number of perspectives, number of filters, or number of pushes.

    • Hover over a tag to view its full name and description.

  4. The selected tag is added to the Selected Conditions section on the right, which displays the number of matching users.

    33

    • Hover over a condition and click Remove to delete it.

    • Click a condition to open a dialog box where you can modify the tag values.

    • You can combine multiple conditions using union, intersection, or difference operations. The default operation is union. Click the union 并集, intersection 交集, or difference 并 icon to switch between operations. Drag conditions to adjust their calculation hierarchy.

      Note
      • In multilayer calculations, the difference operation is supported only on the outermost layer, which is the final layer of the calculation.

      • You can set multiple conditions for the same tag, regardless of its type. Combine these conditions with different operations and layers to achieve your desired filtering results.

  5. Enter a name and a description for the audience. Select a folder to save the audience, and then associate a sub-activity. For more information, see the Marketing Campaign document. Specify whether the audience is public and select the ID type for the saved audience. Click Preview to view the user persona tags for up to 100 matching audience members. Click Save to create the audience.

After you save the audience, the page redirects to the audience list. You can use the new audience only after its execution status changes to Successful.

    Note
    • Select the ID type for the saved audience from the ID types available in the dataset. If you select an ID type other than the user identity, the actual number of saved audience members may differ from the number shown by the filter.

    • When you use an audience for pushes and automated marketing, you can use the saved ID type and any other ID types from the audience's source dataset.

Set filter conditions for different tag types

The filtering method varies by tag type. Use the following methods to set conditions:

  • Enumeration

Click an enumeration tag. In the dialog box that appears, select the desired tag values and click OK.

  • Numeric

Click a numeric tag. In the dialog box that appears, select a filter condition, enter a value, and click OK.

  • Text

Click a text tag. In the dialog box that appears, select a filter condition and tag values, then click OK.

    Note
    • After selecting a filter condition, select tag values from the drop-down list on the right. You can also enter a tag value to search for it. The drop-down list displays up to 3,000 random tag values. To select a value that is not displayed, you must search for it and select it from the search results.

    • If you select multiple tag values, the filter returns users who match at least one of those values. This is equivalent to a union operation between the selected tag values.

    • To ensure calculation performance, do not select more than 200 tag values in a single filter condition.

The supported filter conditions are Exact match, Contains, Does not match, Does not contain, Starts with, Ends with, Does not start with, Does not end with, Is empty, and Is not empty.

The Exact match condition supports batch entry of tag values. Click Batch Entry in the upper-right corner. In the new dialog box, enter one tag value per line and click OK. You can enter up to 2,000 lines, with each line up to 60 characters long. You can copy and paste values from files, such as Excel, CSV, and TXT files. You can also enter values that are not in the drop-down list on the right.

  • Multivalue

The value of a multivalue tag consists of one or more values separated by a separator. The separator is specified when you create a user tag dataset.

Click a multivalue tag. In the dialog box that appears, select a filter condition and the desired tag values from the deduplicated list, then click OK.

The supported filter conditions are Contains all, Contains, and Is empty. These conditions work as follows:

    • Contains all: If you select multiple tag values, the filter returns users who match all of the selected values. This is equivalent to an intersection operation between the selected tag values.

    • Contains: If you select multiple tag values, the filter returns users who match at least one of the selected values. This is equivalent to a union operation between the selected tag values.

    Note
    • After you select a filter condition, select the deduplicated tag values from the drop-down list on the right. You can also enter a tag value to search for it. The drop-down list displays up to 3,000 random tag values. To select a value that is not displayed, you must search for it and select it from the search results.

    • To ensure calculation performance, do not select more than 200 tag values in a single filter condition.

    Note

The Exact match, Starts with, and Ends with filter conditions are no longer supported. For audiences that use these old filter conditions, the following changes apply:

    • Existing Exact match conditions are automatically converted to Contains. This change does not affect the filtering results.

    • Existing Starts with and Ends with conditions are retained. However, restrictions apply when you update the corresponding audience. To update the audience, you must change the condition to a currently supported filter condition type. When editing the audience, you cannot save changes if you use the Starts with or Ends with conditions. You must use a currently supported filter condition.

  • Time

Click a time tag. Select a start date and an end date, then click OK.

You can set dates in three ways:

    • Date Range - Exact Time: Select specific dates.

When you use exact times for both the start and end dates, you can select the granularity: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly. If you select a granularity other than Daily, the time range is expanded to cover the full period. By default, a week starts on Sunday and ends on Saturday. For example, as shown in the following figure, if you select Weekly granularity and choose an end date that falls within the week of February 14-20, 2021, the effective end date is set to February 20, 2021.

      Note

If you set an exact time, the results do not change when you update the audience, unless the tag value itself changes.

      n1

    • Date Range - Relative Time: Select a date by specifying a number of days in the past or future relative to the current date. Day 0 (past or future) represents the current day. For example, as shown in the following figure, if the current day is June 2, 2021, then 10 days in the past is May 23, 2021, and 10 days in the future is June 12, 2021.

      Note

When you update the audience, the relative time is recalculated based on the update date, and the audience is filtered according to the new time range.

      n

    • Quick Select: Select a preset range, such as This week, This month, This year, Last week, Last month, or Last year.

      Note

When you update the audience, the date range is recalculated based on the update date, and the audience is filtered according to the new time range.
