Sitemap
Websites can have complex link structures, which makes it difficult for crawlers to discover every page. A sitemap provides a clear overview of your site's architecture. This topic describes how to use sitemap settings to automatically generate a sitemap file.
Background information
A sitemap is a file that describes your website's structure and content. This file is typically stored in the root directory and named `sitemap`. It guides search engine crawlers and helps them index important pages. This product can automatically generate a sitemap. You can also manually upload an XML sitemap file created with a separate tool.
Configure the sitemap
In the navigation pane on the left of the website console, choose .
Configure the sitemap for pages, articles, and products. You can add or remove items, and set their weight and update frequency. After you confirm the settings, click Save and Update to update the sitemap on your published website.
Weight: This is the `priority` of a page relative to other pages on your site. The value ranges from 0.1 to 0.9. A higher value indicates a higher priority. Search engine crawlers prioritize pages with higher weights. The home page should typically have a higher weight than other pages.
Update frequency: This is the `changefreq`, which indicates how often the page content changes. The frequency you set in the sitemap should match the actual update frequency of your site. Do not set the update frequency to `monthly` or `yearly`, because this can slow down site indexing.
If you already have a sitemap file, you can click Manual Upload to upload it.
To view the sitemap file, go to `your-domain-name/sitemap.txt`.
