Devices

To use the video access service of IoT Platform, you must purchase video activation codes that correspond to the estimated bandwidth usage of your device. For more information, see Activation code billing.

Message communication

Data is forwarded between the IoT Platform cloud and devices by sending and receiving messages. This process incurs message communication fees. For more information, see Message communication billing. (The platform does not currently charge for this service.)

Smart cloud storage

Smart cloud storage is a value-added service of Alibaba Cloud Link Visual for video devices. This service lets you store and view videos and images, and receive alert notifications. To use smart cloud storage, you must agree to the Alibaba Cloud Link Visual Video Cloud Storage Service Terms on the IoT Platform. • Payment method

  You must implement the payment logic in your own app. For example, you can integrate the Alipay mobile payment software development kit (SDK). When your app calls the cloud purchase API, Alibaba Cloud enables the smart cloud storage service for the device and deducts the fee from your Alibaba Cloud account. Ensure that your Alibaba Cloud account has a sufficient balance. If the balance is insufficient, the service activation fails.

• Package specifications

  Smart cloud storage packages are available in two types: standard packages for devices with a constant power supply and low-power packages for devices such as doorbells and peephole cameras.

    Note

    The low-power package for doorbells and peephole cameras limits the number and duration of event recordings per device per day.

  Smart cloud storage is available in monthly packages (30 days) and annual packages (365 days).

  Smart cloud storage is primarily event-based. With the event cloud storage service, a device that is connected to Alibaba Cloud over a stable network connection automatically records and uploads video when it detects changes. These changes can include people walking by, objects moving, or shifts in light.

  Event cloud storage is available with storage periods of 1, 3, 7, 14, and 30 days. For example, consider an annual package for 7-day rolling event storage. If you purchase the package and it activates on January 1, 2019, the system stores all recordings and images from January 1 to January 7. On January 8, the system deletes the data from January 1 and starts storing data from January 8. This cycle continues. On January 1, 2020, the service expires. No new data is stored, but you can still view the existing data. On January 8, 2020, all stored data is deleted and becomes inaccessible.

• Gift Policy

  Alibaba Cloud offers one free smart cloud storage package for each mass-produced device for which a video activation code is purchased. Each device is eligible for this offer only once. Binding the device to a different user account does not grant another free package. To account for product returns and resales, a device can receive the free package up to three times, each time under a different user account. Do not advise users to switch accounts to obtain free resources. If you do, Alibaba Cloud reserves the right to reclaim the free resources and charge you a penalty equal to three times their value. For each device for which a video activation code is purchased, Alibaba Cloud can offer a free 3-month, 7-day event cloud storage package. Alibaba Cloud reserves the right to stop this promotion at any time.

• Purchase and activation rules

  Within your user system, a user account can have multiple monthly and annual smart cloud storage packages. However, only one package can be active at a time. You can choose to activate a smart cloud storage package immediately or with a delay. If you choose immediate activation, the service switches to the new package right away, and the remaining time on the old package is saved. A partial day is counted as a full day. If you choose delayed activation, the new package takes effect after the original package expires. You must allow users with multiple packages to change the activation order as needed. By default, packages are activated in the order they are purchased.

  Smart cloud storage packages are non-refundable once purchased. As a virtual product, cloud storage cannot be returned, exchanged, or refunded. Price adjustments are not provided. You can stop the service.

  If a device is unbound from a user account, a new user who binds the device to their account cannot access the previous user's cloud storage data. The new user must purchase a new smart cloud storage service.

  If a user has multiple devices under one account, a separate smart cloud storage service must be purchased for each device.

• Transfer rules

  Users in your system can transfer the remaining duration of a purchased smart cloud storage service to another eligible device. The content is not transferred. This is possible even if the original device is unbound. The transfer conditions are as follows:

  • The package to be transferred must be a purchased package that is still active. Free packages cannot be transferred.

  • The destination device must be a Link Visual device bound to the same user account. You cannot transfer services between different users in your system.
