Impacts of changing specifications
Changing instance specifications causes a brief disruption. Review the expected impacts before scheduling the change.
| Impact | Details |
|---|---|
| Transient connections | One or two transient connections of about 30 seconds may occur during the change. Most database, account, and network operations fail during this period. |
| Read-only instance restarts | After a primary instance's specifications change, all attached read-only instances restart automatically. |
Important
To reduce downtime, schedule the change during off-peak hours and configure your application to reconnect automatically if the connection drops.
