Billing for app templates

The platform offers app templates that you can use to quickly build your own branded app with simple configurations. This topic describes the billing for the Basic Edition of app templates, including the billing cycle, available services, and renewal information.

Activate the service

Before you purchase or use an app template, you must create your own app. You can scan the QR code to install and try the official template. The trial is available only for Android. For more information about how to create an app, see Create your own app.

Note For information about billing for smart device app templates, see Smart device app templates.
  1. Log on to the IoT Platform console.
  2. Go to the My Apps page for your branded app.
  3. Click Select Template and select Basic Edition.
  4. Click Activate Basic Edition and complete the payment as prompted.

Service period

The service period for an app template is one year. The period begins after your payment is successful.

Available services

After you activate the Basic Edition, you can use the following services.

  • Use the templates for all your branded apps. This applies to all projects, including projects you create and projects you are authorized to use, under the paying Alibaba Cloud account.
    Note If you are a device manufacturer, you can also ask a solution provider who has already paid for this service to generate and build the app for you.
  • Use all templates labeled Basic Edition an unlimited number of times. This includes generating apps and downloading source code.
  • Receive version updates for each template and get access to advanced app features.
After the service expires
  • You cannot use templates labeled Basic Edition to generate apps or download source code.
  • You can continue to use app templates that you have already downloaded.

Service renewal

To continue using the app template service after it expires, you must renew it. To renew the service, follow the same steps that you used to activate it.

After you renew the service, you can continue to download the source code for apps that you previously generated. You can also generate or download source code for new apps.
