Request a Tmall Genie tag

You can request a unique tag for your Tmall Genie ecosystem products sold on Taobao or Tmall. This tag helps consumers easily identify your product when they search for similar items in the app, making your product more competitive.

Prerequisites

The product must be published. For more information, see Publish a product.

Background information

The "Tmall Genie Controllable Device" certification was created by ecosystem partner brands to help consumers identify and purchase devices that are compatible with Tmall Genie. These brands are responsible for manufacturing, quality assurance, and after-sales service. Products with the following features can request this certification.

  • The product connects to and can be controlled by Tmall Genie.
  • The product has built-in Tmall Genie features, which allow users to interact with the product directly using their voice.
After the product is certified, a tag is displayed on the following pages.
  • The Tmall Genie Smart Control tag is displayed on the Taobao search results page.
  • The Genie Smart Control tag is displayed on product pages in the Taobao and Tmall mobile apps.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the IoT Platform console.
  2. In the product management section on the homepage of your Tmall Genie ecosystem project, go to the Batch Production page for your product.
  3. First, complete the following operations in order: Publish Product > Request Activation Code > Product Mass Production > Product Listing. Then, in the Tmall Genie Tagging section, click Request Tag.
    Note You can also request a tag in the Operations Hub. On the Product Management page, click Tag Management. For more information, see Product Management.
  4. In the Product Basic Information panel that appears, select the level-3 category for the product, enter the Item IDs to be tagged, and then click Confirm to submit the request.
    Parameter Example Description
    Product Name Light Bulb The name of the product.
    Product comparison Pja****sd The ProductKey is automatically generated when you create the product. IoT Platform issues this globally unique identifier for the product.
    Category Electrical and Lighting The product's industry category. You select this in the platform and cannot change it later.
    Level-2 Category Light The product's functional category. You can select this in the platform.
    Level-3 Category xx Brand Smart Color Light The name of the product. You must enter this yourself.
    Item IDs to be tagged 12****7 Enter the Item IDs to be tagged. An Item ID is the unique identifier for a product. You can add multiple IDs, up to a maximum of 50.
    Note

    After you submit the request, the industry operations team reviews it within two business days. After the request is approved, you can check the review status on the Batch Production page.
