Modify bandwidth policy

MyBase Dedicated Cluster lets you modify the bandwidth policy for your instances. If an instance has insufficient bandwidth to handle traffic peaks, such as during flash sales, you can adjust its bandwidth as needed. This helps you manage sudden or planned traffic surges and focus on growing your business.

Prerequisites

You have created a Redis instance of Redis Enterprise Edition (Enhanced Performance) that uses the master-replica architecture. For more information, see Create a MyBase Redis instance.

Use cases

You can adjust the instance bandwidth to handle the following business scenarios. Compared to changing specifications, adjusting bandwidth lets you quickly increase your capacity, save on overall costs, and avoid transient disconnections. The change takes effect immediately.

  • Your business anticipates a planned traffic peak, such as from a promotional event, and requires the flexibility to change bandwidth.
  • Your application is temporarily experiencing a high volume of read and write operations on large keys. You need to quickly increase bandwidth to prevent business impact while you resolve the large key issue.

Procedure

  1. Sign in to the ApsaraDB MyBase console.
  2. In the upper-left corner, select the target region.
  3. In the Actions column of the target dedicated cluster, click Details.
  4. In the navigation pane on the left, click Instances.
  5. In the Actions column for the target instance, choose > Modify Bandwidth Policy.
  6. Configure the bandwidth.
In the Modify Bandwidth Policy dialog box, use the slider or enter a value to set the bandwidth. The available range is determined by the instance specifications. Below the slider, you can view the bandwidth settings for all instances on the host to ensure the limits are met. After you configure the bandwidth, click OK.
    Note
    • The bandwidth of a single instance cannot exceed 75% of its host's base bandwidth. Refer to the host specifications table for the base bandwidth of your host.
    • The total bandwidth of all instances on a host cannot exceed 150% of the host's base bandwidth.
  7. Click OK.
