This topic describes how to connect a Cisco device to DingTalk based on Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). In this topic, Cisco Room Kit is used as an example.

Prerequisites

  • The license for a DingTalk meeting connector is purchased. An account, a password, and a domain name are provided by DingTalk for you to register your Polycom device with the DingTalk meeting connector.

  • The backend web URL, account, and password of your Polycom device are obtained.

Connection modes

You can connect your video meeting device to a DingTalk meeting connector in the following two modes:
  • Registered mode: You must set all the required parameters to connect your device to the DingTalk meeting connector. In this mode, you can hold meetings and use all the meeting features of DingTalk.
  • Unregistered mode: You need only to set some required parameters. In this mode, you can test the connectivity between your device and the DingTalk meeting connector. For example, you can test the connectivity of shared video and audio streams.

Procedure

  1. Open a browser. Enter the backend web URL of your device in the address bar and press Enter.
  2. Enter the account and password of your device to log on to the device.
  3. In the top navigation bar, choose Setup > Configuration to go to the Configuration page.

    The SIP registration status is Inactive.

  4. In the navigation pane on the left, click SIP.
  5. Set the SIP parameters.

    You can use SIP to connect your device to DingTalk in registered or unregistered mode.

    • Registered call

      Set the required parameters as described in the following table. The sample values are for reference only.

      Configuration item Description
      DefaultTransport We recommend that you select UDP. You can also select Auto, TCP, or TLS, but this may cause the connection to fail.
      ListenPort If you set DefaultTransport to UDP, you must set this parameter to On.
      Proxy 1 Address Enter the domain name.

      For example, if the domain name provided by DingTalk after your purchase is sipgw.dingtalk.com, enter sipgw.dingtalk.com.
      URI Enter the URI in the format: Account@Domain name.

      For example, if the account provided by DingTalk is dingtalk and the domain name is sipgw.dingtalk.com, enter dingtalk@sipgw.dingtalk.com.
      Authentication Enter the UserName and Password

      For example, if the account provided by DingTalk is dingtalk and the password is ding123, set UserName to dingtalk and Password to ding123.

      Important You must re-enter the password each time you perform the configuration.
      After you complete the configuration, click Save. In the top menu bar, click Home. The SIP status changes to Registered.
    • Unregistered mode

      The following table describes the required parameters. The examples are for reference only.

      Parameter Description
      DefaultTransport The valid values are UDP, Auto, TCP, and TLS. We recommend that you set this parameter to UDP.
      ListenPort If DefaultTransport is set to UDP, you must select On.
      Authentication Set the UserName parameter to the account that DingTalk provides and the Password

      For example, if the account and password that DingTalk provides are dingtalk and ding123, set the UserName parameter to dingtalk and the Password parameter to ding123.

      Important You are required to re-enter the password for each configuration.
      Note If you are already registered, clear the Proxy 1 Add and URI configuration items. Then, re-enter your password in the Authentication configuration item and click Save.
      After you set the required parameters, click Save. In the top navigation bar, click Home. On the page that appears, the value of the Status parameter in the SIP section is Inactive.

Verify configurations

You can use the backend web URL of your device to check whether the configurations are effective.

  1. After you configure your SIP device, initiate a meeting within your organization.
  2. Obtain the security token of the meeting. For more information, see Join a meeting.
  3. Open a browser. Enter the backend web URL of your device in the address bar and press Enter.
  4. Enter the account and password of your device to log on to the device.
  5. In the top navigation bar, click Call Control.
  6. Set the Contacts parameter to the security token of the meeting.
    • Registered mode
      Enter the security token of the meeting without spaces. Then, click Call. If you join in the meeting, the configurations are effective.
    • Unregistered mode
      Enter the meeting code without spaces, followed by @domain name, and click Call. If you can join the meeting, the configuration is correct.
