The cell-based application service uses the Kubernetes infrastructure to provide cross-cluster resource management, release and O&M, and cell-based management and control. Each cluster managed by the service is a complete, standard Kubernetes cluster with related extensions.

A federated control plane coordinates resources, applications, and configurations across clusters. This provides features such as application change management, group-based releases, image management, traffic shifting, metadata management, and cluster resource management. You can interact with individual clusters and the federated control layer through the console, command line, or an SDK.

As the platform control layer for a distributed architecture, the cell-based application service also integrates with other systems.

  • It integrates with DevOps products to provide continuous integration and delivery and generate release orders for the LHC product.

  • It integrates with various basic Platform as a Service (PaaS) products to manage realm models such as permissions, resources, application metadata, workspaces, and deployment units.

  • It integrates with monitoring and analysis platforms to provide observability into all cluster resources and business applications.
