ApsaraDB for OceanBase notifies you of scheduled Operations and Maintenance (O&M) events, such as instance migrations and version upgrades, through text messages, voice calls, emails, or internal messages. These notifications also appear in the product console. In the scheduled events section, you can view details such as the instance name, event reason, execution status, and whether the event can be canceled. You can also manually change the scheduled time or cancel the event.

Concepts

A scheduled event is a proactive O&M operation for a cluster. Examples include minor version upgrades, data migration, and hardware maintenance. In the backend, an event affects a group of resources. For example, when a version upgrade event is created, it affects multiple cluster instances or tenants. The relationship between an event and instances is one-to-many.

Notes

Log on to Message Center. Make sure that the ApsaraDB Fault or O&M Notification switch is enabled. Also, set the message recipients. We recommend adding your database O&M personnel as message recipients. Otherwise, you will not receive the relevant notifications.

For pending events in ApsaraDB, such as instance migrations and version upgrades, you are typically notified at least 3 days in advance. Notifications are sent through text messages, voice calls, emails, internal messages, or the console. For urgent threat-fixing events that require immediate attention, notifications are usually sent 3 days or less before execution.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the OceanBase Management Console .

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, click Operation Center > Scheduled Events.

  3. On the scheduled events list page, you can view information about an event, such as Instance Name/ID, Instance Type, Event Type, Event Reason, Business Impact, Scheduled Change Time, Latest Change Time, Execution Status, Cancellable, and Modifiable Time.计划内事件

  4. In the search box, enter an instance ID, instance name, or event reason, and then click the search icon to find a specific scheduled event.

  5. In the Actions column, click Change Scheduled Time. In the dialog box that appears, you can manually change the scheduled start time.

    Note

To ensure the continuity and security of the OceanBase database service, make sure that your application has a reconnection mechanism in place during the scheduled event.

  6. In the Actions column, click Cancel Plan to cancel the scheduled event.

Impact description

Common impacts of scheduled events include the following:

  1. You can set the scheduled switchover time to a time before the latest switchover time for the event. Before the scheduled switchover time, the event is in a preparing state, and database access is not affected.

  2. After the scheduled switchover time, the scheduled O&M event is triggered and enters the changing state. An instance switchover may cause a transient disconnection. For a cluster instance, each tenant may experience a transient disconnection.

  3. After the scheduled O&M event is complete, the access endpoint, address, and connection method of the database instance remain unchanged.
