This topic describes how to decouple a secondary instance to create a new cluster instance that is independent of the existing primary cluster.
Background information
Decoupling converts a pair of primary and secondary instances into two independent cluster instances. This process improves resource utilization and is typically used for scenarios such as splitting business services. After a secondary instance is decoupled, it becomes an independent cluster instance, and the original primary instance becomes a standard cluster instance. This operation cannot be reversed. After the decoupling is complete, data backup and log backup are automatically enabled for the new independent cluster instance.
Prerequisites
The cluster instance is a secondary instance.
The secondary instance and its tenants are in the Running state.
Procedure
Log on to the OceanBase console .
In the navigation pane on the left, click Instance List. In the list of instances, find the target primary instance and click its name to go to its cluster instance workspace.
In the list of primary and secondary instances, find the target secondary instance. In the Actions column, click More > Decouple Secondary Instance.
Click OK.
