If the primary instance becomes unavailable due to a planned or unplanned event, such as a majority replica failure, you can switch the secondary instance to the primary role to take over the service. This topic describes the procedure for this switchover.
Background information
Switching a secondary instance to the primary role may cause a transient service disconnection that lasts for a few seconds. Perform this operation during off-peak hours. After the switchover, the original primary instance becomes the new secondary instance. The information for the original primary instance in the console is updated to reflect its new role as a secondary instance.
Procedure
Log on to the OceanBase Management Console .
In the navigation pane on the left, click Instance List. In the instance list, select the target secondary instance and open its console.
In the list of primary and secondary instances, find the current secondary instance. In the Actions column, click More > Switch to Primary Instance.
Click OK.
