DashVector supports only pay-as-you-go billing. Fees are calculated per second based on instance type and replica count.
Billing methods
DashVector currently supports only the pay-as-you-go billing method.
With pay-as-you-go, you are charged after resource consumption. After you create a DashVector instance, Alibaba Cloud deducts fees from your account hourly based on the instance billing rules.
Billing rules
Compute-optimized and storage-optimized instances
-
Formula: Unit price of instance type × Billing duration × Number of replicas
-
Billing duration: Starts when the instance is created and ends when the instance is released.
-
Billing cycle: Per-second billing
Serverless instances
-
Formula: Unit price of write requests × Write request units + Unit price of read requests × Read request units + Unit price of storage × Index storage
-
Billing cycle:
-
Write/Read request billing: You are billed in real time and receive hourly statements.
-
Storage billing: Billing starts when the Serverless instance is created and ends when the instance is released. You receive hourly statements.
-
-
Billing for write/read requests applies only to Doc class operations.
-

For Serverless instances, the Usage field in API responses indicates request unit consumption, varying by vector dimensions and filter conditions. write_units and read_units represent the respective request unit counts. The RequestUsage data type provides details.
Billing cycle
Pay-as-you-go DashVector instance fees are settled hourly (UTC+8). If your available credit (account balance and coupons) is insufficient, you receive a notification by text message or email.

Serverless instances: Upgrades and downgrades are not supported.
Overdue payments
Overdue payments may cause instance suspension. To avoid service interruptions, top up your account promptly.
-
When your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment, all pay-as-you-go DashVector instances under the account become overdue.
-
If your account is within the service suspension grace period, your service continues running. You receive a daily text message reminder.
NoteThe service suspension grace period lets you continue using services for a limited time or amount after an overdue payment. Billing continues during this period. The grace period quota is not the upper limit for total overdue payment and is automatically calculated monthly based on your historical consumption. The Overdue payments topic covers the full grace period policy.
-
If the grace period is not enabled or the quota is exceeded, Alibaba Cloud suspends the instance and stops billing.
-
After the service is suspended for 7 days, the instance is considered abandoned. Alibaba Cloud will release the instance, and its data will be deleted and cannot be recovered.
After an instance is released, its data cannot be recovered.
