Instance recycle bin
This topic describes the features of the instance recycle bin and how to recover data from released cluster instances.
Background information
The instance recycle bin stores released cluster instances that have backup files. You can use the recycle bin to recover data from a released instance to a new cluster.
When you release an OceanBase cluster instance, two backup policies are available:
Retain all data backups and their corresponding log backups. You can then view and recover the data from the instance recycle bin. The backup files of an instance in the recycle bin are retained. Billing continues for these backup files, and the free quota no longer applies. Backup data is not moved to the recycle bin in cases of refunds, five-day unconditional refunds, or the release of instances due to overdue payments. If your account has an overdue payment, the system automatically deletes the backup data from the instance recycle bin.
Do not retain backups. The instance is not moved to the instance recycle bin after it is released.
Limits
The instance recycle bin currently supports only cluster instances. Tenant instances and Serverless instances are not supported.
Only cluster-level data recovery is supported. Data recovery for a single tenant is not supported.
Procedure
Log on to the OceanBase Management Console .
In the navigation pane on the left, click Instance List.
In the upper-right corner of the Instance List page, click Instance Recycle Bin. You can view information about the instances in the recycle bin, such as instance name/ID, zone, specifications, instance type, cluster version, creation time, and deletion time.
Click Initiate Recovery in the Actions column of the target instance to recover data from the released cluster instance. For more information, see Recover data backups from the instance recycle bin.
Click the + icon next to the target instance name to view the level-1 backup and archive backup information of the released instance. To delete the backup files of the released instance, click Delete in the Actions column.
Billing for instances in the recycle bin
If an instance is moved to the recycle bin after it is released, billing continues for its backup data, and the free quota no longer applies. For more information about the fees, see Billing of backup and recovery. No fees are incurred if the instance is not moved to the recycle bin.
Billing stops after an instance is removed from the recycle bin and all its backup files are deleted.
