Create a cluster instance

OceanBase Database is a distributed database that consists of multiple, physically separate database units. These units are connected over a computer network to form a single logical entity called an OceanBase cluster. This topic describes how to create a Free Edition OceanBase cluster.

Note

If you are new to ApsaraDB for OceanBase, you can use an enterprise-verified account to create a free trial cluster instance. For more information, see Free trial instructions for cluster instances.

Procedure

  1. Log on to your Alibaba Cloud account. If you do not have an Alibaba Cloud account, follow the instructions to register for one. For more information, see Sign up for an Alibaba Cloud account.

  2. Go to the OceanBase purchase page, and then create a tenant instance by selecting the billing method and specifying the basic configurations.

    Product Type

    Select Subscription.

    Instance Type

    Select Cluster Instance.

    Series

    Standard Edition (Cloud Disk)

    Region

    Only the Hangzhou and Beijing regions are supported. Select a region as needed.

    Deployment Solution

    Dual-data center deployment

    Node Specifications

    Select 4 Cores 16 GB. The free trial is only available for cluster instances with 4 Cores 16 GB. If you select other specifications, you will be charged.

    Zone

    Select a zone with sufficient resources.

    Storage Class

    ESSD PL1 cloud disk

    Storage Size

    50 GB. If you select a different storage size, you will be charged.

    Version

    V4.1.x.x

    Number of full-featured replicas

    2

  1. Select the quantity and subscription duration.

  1. Confirm that the configuration fee is CNY 0.00 and click Buy Now.

What to do next

  1. Go to the product console to view the creation progress of the cluster instance. The creation of a 4-core, 16 GB cluster instance takes about 20 to 30 minutes.

  2. After the cluster is created, click Modify Instance Name and change the cluster name to Experience Tutorial or another custom name.
