Alibaba Cloud Real-Time Communication (RTC) is a global development platform for real-time audio and video. It uses core technologies, such as audio and video codecs, channel transmission, and network scheduling, to provide highly available, high-quality, and ultra-low latency communication services.
Prerequisites
Before you read this topic, you should be familiar with the following concepts:
Service architecture
Alibaba Cloud RTC provides SDKs for mobile, desktop, and web clients. You can use these SDKs to quickly build multi-platform real-time applications. For more information about how to connect to RTC, see Overview.
After you set up the local SDK, you can call APIs on the client to interact with the RTC server-side. When you join a channel, you can ingest local streams and subscribe to remote users to enable real-time audio and video calls within the channel.
Alibaba Cloud RTC uses a global, real-time, intelligent scheduling system. This system works with a real-time media processing system and over 1,500 Edge Node Service nodes. It applies industry-leading algorithms for audio 3A (AGC, AEC, and ANS), video encoding, and resilience against poor network conditions. This provides low-latency real-time communication that is resistant to packet loss.

Pricing
Alibaba Cloud RTC offers a pay-as-you-go billing method. By default, billing is based on the total duration of all subscribed video resolutions. For more information, see Billing for audio and video calls.
Scenarios
Alibaba Cloud RTC supports scenarios such as video conferencing, online education, music tutoring, interactive live streaming, video-based social networking, and gaming and entertainment. For more information, see Scenarios.
