In IoT Platform, data is forwarded between the cloud and devices through messages. This topic describes how to view these device messages.
Background
The message communication billing plan has been fully updated. You can now use the platform to view the number of active devices, device message quotas, and message package overviews.
Prerequisites
The product has been mass-produced. For more information, see Mass-produce devices.
The device is a standard device, not a video device.
View device messages
On the Home page of the console, click Activation Code in the navigation pane on the left to open the Activation Code and Message Management page.
Click Message Package Overview to open the message package overview page.
Select a Project and a Product. You can then view Device Messages, Active Devices, Available and Actual Reported Messages, Average Available and Actual Reported Messages per Device, Data Download, and Message Package Overview.
Device Messages: Two modes are supported: Automatic allocation by percentage of active devices or Custom percentage allocation.
Automatic allocation by percentage of active devices
The platform defaults to the Automatic allocation by percentage of active devices mode.
Custom percentage allocation
Click Switch to custom percentage allocation.
Confirm the switch to custom percentage allocation.
You can adjust the percentage of the Total available messages for the product.
NoteAfter you save the configuration, the platform allocates the product's available message quota based on the percentage you set. This percentage is also used to automatically allocate quotas if you later mass-produce devices or purchase message packages.
After you switch from Automatic allocation by percentage of active devices to Custom percentage allocation, you cannot switch back.
Active Devices
Available and Actual Reported Messages

Average Available and Actual Reported Messages per Device

Data download for active devices, available messages, and actual reported messages: You can download daily message data from the last year.
Message Package Overview: Expired data is retained for only the last 12 months.
For mass-produced products, you can view message records from both mass production and purchased message packages.
Active devices: These are devices that have reported Thing Specification Language (TSL) model data during the statistical period. Because this data fluctuates based on actual usage, the results from the previous day are displayed to help developers evaluate message usage.
Available and actual reported messages: This is the total number of available messages and the total number of actual reported messages for a product.
Average available messages per device: This is the theoretical daily message limit for a single device of the current product.
Average actual reported messages per device: This is the average number of messages actually reported by a single device on the previous day.

Message examples:
Mass production:
A device is mass-produced at 10:30:00 on January 1, 2024. The 100 messages included with the activation code become effective immediately.
The validity period of 3 calendar years starts from the effective time, which is calculated as 90 calendar days after the mass production date. In this example, the effective time is 00:00:01 on April 1, 2024.
The messages expire at 23:59:59 on March 31, 2027.
Purchased message package:
A message package is purchased at 10:30:00 on January 1, 2024. The messages become effective immediately.
The validity period of 1 calendar year starts from the effective time. In this example, the effective time is 00:00:01 on January 2, 2024.
