The IoT Platform provides a calculator. This topic describes how to use the calculator to purchase the appropriate message packages.

Background

The billing plan for message communication has been upgraded. The platform provides a calculator to help developers purchase the correct number of message packages. The calculated number is a suggestion for reference only.

Use the calculator

  1. On the console home page, click Activation Code in the navigation pane on the left to go to the Activation Code and Message Management page.

  2. Click the Message Package Overview tab, select a project and product, and then click Calculator.

  3. Select a message package specification, enter the expected number of messages, and click Calculate. The calculator displays the recommended number of message packages to purchase.

    Note
    • Number of active devices: The number of devices that reported data based on the Thing Specification Language (TSL) model during a statistical period. This number fluctuates based on actual usage. The result from the previous day is displayed to help you evaluate message usage.

    • Daily message limit per device: The maximum number of messages that a single device of the current product can use per day.

    • Average daily active devices in the last 6 months: The average number of daily active devices over the last six months.

    • Average daily message limit per device in the last 6 months: The average daily message limit for a single device over the last six months.

    • Message package specifications: Five specifications are available. For more information, see Message communication billing.

    • Expected number of messages: The expected daily message limit per device.

    Example 1:

    • Expected number of messages > Today's message limit per device

    • Message package specification is set to 100.

    • Expected number of messages is 350.

    • Click Calculate.

    • The calculator recommends purchasing 2,107 message packages for the current product.

    Example 2:

    • Expected number of messages <= Today's message limit per device

    • Message package specification is set to 100.

    • Expected number of messages is 99.

    • The page displays the message "The expected daily number of messages must be greater than today's message limit per device."

    Note

The expected number of messages must be greater than the current daily message limit per device.

    • Because message packages are virtual goods, they are non-returnable, non-exchangeable, or non-refundable.
