This topic shows you how to reinforce an Android application using the Standard Edition and obtain the reinforced package.

Prerequisites

  • You have an unreinforced APK or Android App Bundle (AAB) file that is 1 GB or smaller.

  • You have purchased the Mobile Security Reinforcement service or are within the 7-day free trial period.

Procedure

The procedure is as follows:

  1. Log on to the mPaaS console and select the target application.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Security Services > Application Security Reinforcement > Android Application Security Reinforcement to go to the Android Application Security Reinforcement page.

  3. In the upper-right corner, select Standard Edition to go to the Standard Edition Reinforcement page.

  4. Click Create Security Reinforcement to go to the Upload Application for Reinforcement page.

  5. Click Upload Application and select your APK or AAB file.

  6. After the upload finishes, the Confirm Security Reinforcement Information page appears. Review the application details and reinforcement settings.

  7. (Optional) In the Add classes to be protected section, select the classes to reinforce. We recommend selecting only the most important ones.

  8. (Optional) In the Select So files to be protected section, select the .so files to protect.

  9. (Optional) In the Select Assets files to be protected section, select the Assets files to protect.

  10. Click Confirm Reinforcement to start the reinforcement process.

  11. Return to the Application Security Reinforcement page. A card for the new reinforcement task appears. The card shows the current status of the reinforcement task:

    • Reinforcing: The reinforcement task is in progress.

    • Reinforced: The reinforcement task is complete.

    • Reinforcement failed: The reinforcement task has failed.

  12. When the card status changes to Reinforced, click Download to obtain the reinforced package (the reinforced APK or AAB file).

Note

The reinforced package is unsigned. You must sign the downloaded package before publishing it to any app store.

Next steps

After reinforcement, you must verify that critical components, such as the upgrade component and the hotfix component, function correctly. If the reinforced installation package does not function as expected, submit a ticket or contact mPaaS technical support.
