This page describes the refund policy and cancellation rules for OceanBase Database.
Refund policy
The refund options for OceanBase Database vary depending on the billing method, as shown in the following table.
Billing method | Refund policy |
Subscription | When you purchase a subscription cluster instance, you must pay in advance for the subscription duration. If your business needs change and you no longer require the subscription instance, you can request a refund. Before you request a refund, read the Alibaba Cloud product unsubscribe rules. Then, log on to the Unsubscribe management page to unsubscribe. When you request a refund, the system calculates the final cost based on your instance usage. A partial refund is issued for the prepaid amount of the tenant instance. Billing for the pay-as-you-go portion stops after the instance is shut down. |
Pay-as-you-go and Serverless | Pay-as-you-go cluster instances, tenant instances, and Serverless instances generate bills in real time based on actual usage. Therefore, refunds are not applicable. If you no longer need these instances, you can release them. Before you release an instance, make sure that you have backed up or migrated your data and that releasing the instance does not affect your business. After an instance is released, billing for it stops. |
Refunds may also be available in the following scenarios: switching billing methods and downgrading an instance.

Downgrading a subscription instance | After you downgrade a subscription instance, the price difference between the old and new configurations is refunded to you. Canceling a renewal | After you renew a subscription instance, if you unsubscribe before the new subscription period starts, the renewal fee is fully refunded. For more information, see the Unsubscribe from a renewed subscription section in Unsubscribe rules. |
