This topic describes how to start a unit migration in the cluster instance workspace.

Background information

In ApsaraDB for OceanBase, a unit is a concept for managing the physical resource allocation for database services. A unit has the following characteristics:

  • A unit is a collection of physical resources, such as CPU, memory, storage space, and input/output operations per second (IOPS).

  • In a multi-tenant scenario, each tenant can configure different unit resources. This allows for resource isolation and efficient utilization.

  • A unit is the fundamental component for resource scheduling. ApsaraDB for OceanBase adjusts unit allocation based on the real-time load to optimize resource efficiency.

  • A unit has location properties, such as node, zone, and region. It can be deployed across different geographical locations. This improves service availability and disaster recovery capabilities.

Prerequisites

  • The destination cluster has a node distribution of 2-2-2 or higher.

  • The destination cluster is in the running state.

  • A tenant exists in the destination cluster.

  • The destination tenant is in the running state.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the OceanBase Management Console .

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, click Instance List.

  3. Click the destination cluster instance to open the Cluster Instance Workspace.

  4. In the topology graph area, hover over the unit card and click Start Migration.

  5. In the pop-up window, select the destination node and click OK to start the migration.

    Note

After a migration task starts for a cluster, you must wait 15 minutes before you can start another unit migration task.
