Gartner describes eight major trends for cloud-native infrastructure

In its 2020 technology trends outlook, leading analyst firm Gartner stated: "By 2020, all leading container management software

will all feature built-in service integration. By 2022, 75% of global enterprises will use containerized applications in production, and 50% of applications will

"Containerization is well-suited for hyper-converged environments." Additionally, a Gartner report highlights eight major trends in the evolution of infrastructure technology:

  • Multicloud and hybrid cloud

  • Service Mesh

  • Kubernetes-based fPaaS (Function Compute PaaS)

  • Edge computing

  • Bare metal containers and micro-virtual machines

  • Large-scale containerization of third-party applications and Independent Software Vendor (ISV) solutions

  • Improved support for stateful applications

  • The entire technology stack will be built on well-known projects from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF)

Current state of the middleware market in China

Due to the diversity and complexity of middleware, relevant data on the Chinese market is difficult to obtain. However, the consensus is that the market is undergoing a transformation.

Data on the Chinese middleware market is hard to find because of the wide variety of products. However, the market is clearly in transition. In traditional industries such as banking and telecommunications, the market for established products is near saturation. These products include application servers such as Oracle WebLogic, Enterprise Service Buses (ESBs) such as IBM ESB, and transaction middleware such as Tuxedo and CICS. Companies building new IT systems tend to avoid this legacy middleware. At the same time, the next-generation middleware architecture needed for digital transformation is booming.

According to CNCF estimates, the venture capital invested in these products totals approximately 4.76 billion USD, but the total market created could reach a staggering 7.98 trillion USD.

This not only demonstrates the massive market for cloud-native architecture and technology, but also confirms that this is a mature market, not an emerging one.
