This topic explains what a third-party client security password is and how to use it.

What is a third-party client security password?

A third-party client security password is an independent password created to improve security when you send and receive emails from third-party clients, such as Outlook or Foxmail. This password is different from the password for the Alibaba Cloud International Website account that is associated with your Alibaba Mail for Foreign Trade account.

Enable and use a third-party client security password

1. Log on to the Alibaba Mail for Foreign Trade web client. Go to Settings > Account and Security > Account Security > Third-party Client Logon Security Management. Enable Third-party Client Security Password.

Note

If your mailbox interface looks different from the image and you do not see 'Third-party Client Logon Security Management', click Switch to New Version in the upper-left corner of the page.

2. Click Generate New Password to create a client security password. Click Copy, enter a device name, and then click OK.

3. Paste the copied password into the password field in Outlook or Foxmail to log on.

4. If you no longer need the third-party client security password, turn off the switch for this feature and click OK.

Important

1. To protect your mailbox account, do not share the third-party client logon password.

2. If you have already configured your account in a third-party client, the client will prompt you to re-enter your password after you enable the third-party client security password. Generate a new password and then use it to log on.

3. If you have not enabled the third-party client security password, use the password for your Alibaba Cloud International Website account to configure the third-party client.
