The virtual multi-factor authentication (MFA) tool in the Alibaba Cloud app lets you import and export MFA keys. You can back up your key as an encrypted file and save it to a secure location. This lets you recover the key if you change your mobile device or accidentally delete the MFA, ensuring your account remains secure and accessible.

Back up your MFA in advance

The following operations can cause your MFA information to be lost and prevent you from logging in to your Alibaba Cloud account. To prevent losing access to your account, we recommend that you back up or export your MFA device before you perform any of the following operations:

  • Deleting MFA information from the Alibaba Cloud app.

  • Clearing the cache or local data of the Alibaba Cloud app.

  • Changing or losing your mobile phone.

  • Upgrading a Huawei phone to HarmonyOS 5.0 or later.

Note

We recommend that you save your MFA key to a secure location. You can also attach multiple authentication methods to your account to ensure that it is always accessible.
