Announcement on the listing of OceanBase on Alibaba Cloud Marketplace Select and its delisting from the Alibaba Cloud website
Thank you for your support of the OceanBase database product. OceanBase was created at Alibaba and developed at Ant Group. Over 14 years, it has been refined in both internal and external scenarios. In 2024, it officially became an independent software company. For long-term development, Beijing OceanBase Technology Co., Ltd. (OceanBase) and Alibaba Cloud have reached an agreement. Starting October 1, 2024, the OceanBase cloud database will become an Alibaba Cloud Marketplace Select product, and we will begin preparing for its listing. The ApsaraDB for OceanBase product will also be gradually delisted from the Alibaba Cloud website channel. The specific plan and schedule are as follows:
Timeline
On December 31, 2024, the OceanBase cloud database product will enter public preview on Alibaba Cloud Marketplace Select and will be officially launched on March 30, 2025.
Starting April 1, 2025, new customers will no longer be able to purchase the ApsaraDB for OceanBase product from the Alibaba Cloud website channel. Starting January 1, 2026, existing customers will no longer be able to make new purchases of the ApsaraDB for OceanBase product from the Alibaba Cloud website channel. Starting January 1, 2027, support for renewals and version updates for existing customers will be discontinued. Starting July 1, 2027, all services for the ApsaraDB for OceanBase product on the Alibaba Cloud website channel will be completely discontinued. At that time, the console, product support, and ticket services will also be taken offline.
Future operations and services
Starting April 1, 2025, new customers must purchase the OceanBase cloud database service on Alibaba Cloud through Alibaba Cloud Marketplace Select or the OB Cloud database product page on the OceanBase official website.
Starting April 1, 2025, OceanBase service experts will proactively contact existing customers who use the ApsaraDB for OceanBase product from the official website to discuss business continuity. From April 1, 2025, until the product is delisted from the Alibaba Cloud website, existing customers can initiate a one-click switch in the ApsaraDB for OceanBase console. This switch only involves a change in the console you use and the service entity. During the switch, the OceanBase database service will remain continuously available, and business operations connected to the database will not be affected. If you choose not to switch, you can request a refund or purchase other Alibaba Cloud database services from April 1, 2025, until the product is delisted from the Alibaba Cloud website.
This adjustment primarily involves a change in the product and service entities. The product features remain unchanged. If you use the OceanBase cloud database service from Alibaba Cloud Marketplace Select, the contracting entity will change to Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Technology (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. Alibaba Cloud will provide first-line after-sales support, while specific product services and second-line after-sales support will be provided by OceanBase. If you do not switch to Alibaba Cloud Marketplace Select, the contracting entity remains unchanged. Alibaba Cloud and OceanBase will continue to jointly provide product services and after-sales support.
OceanBase, together with Alibaba Cloud, will assist customers in switching from the Alibaba Cloud website product to the Alibaba Cloud Marketplace Select product to ensure that business operations are not affected.
