Benefit rules

Alibaba Cloud provides a wide range of benefits to help developers and businesses start their cloud journey. Before using these benefits, you must complete Account Registration (PC) and real-name verification. After completing real-name verification, you can view and use your available benefits on the My Benefits page.

For both individual and enterprise verified users, we offer several types of benefits, including free trials, low-price instance offers, first-purchase offers, and limited-time promotions.

• Although the benefit types are the same, the specific product types and specifications differ for individual and enterprise users. For example, the free trial for individually verified users includes 130 offers, such as a CNY 300 free credit for ECS. Enterprise verified users receive 150 free trial offers, including a larger CNY 660 free credit for ECS, and additional offers such as a 3-month trial of a 2-vCPU, 4 GB ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL cluster and a 1-month, 120-hour trial of Elastic Desktop Service Enterprise Edition with 4 vCPUs and 8 GB.

• Both "free trial" and "first-purchase" benefits are available only to new product users. For example, if none of your affiliated accounts have ever purchased an ECS instance, you are eligible for both the ECS free trial and the first-purchase offer for ECS. You can choose to use the free trial first, followed by the first-purchase offer. If you have previously purchased ECS but have never purchased ApsaraDB RDS, you are still considered a new product user for ApsaraDB RDS and are eligible for its free trial and first-purchase offers. Your eligibility for specific benefits is shown on the My Benefits page.

• The "low-price instance purchase" benefit is available to all users but can only be claimed once per user. If you have a low-price instance running or an unpaid order for one under your account, you cannot claim this benefit again. Low-price instances can be renewed at the same special price. For details on the renewable period, see the Low-price Instance Purchase Rules.

• Limited-time promotional benefits are valid only during specific periods. Eligibility for these promotions is subject to the terms of each activity.

For university users, we provide additional benefits. University students are eligible for a CNY 300 voucher with no spending threshold, which can be applied to select Alibaba Cloud public cloud products. If you are a university student, follow the Student Verification process to verify your status, then go to the Benefits Center to claim your voucher. If you are a university teacher, you must submit application materials. Once approved, you are eligible for a 50% discount on all Alibaba Cloud public cloud products, with some exceptions.

The following sections describe the specific rules for each type of benefit.

New user free trial rules

The free trial is an Alibaba Cloud benefit for new users, designed to provide a high-quality, zero-cost cloud experience and foster an open and agile developer environment. For more information, see Free Trial FAQ.

I. Eligibility

To be eligible, you must meet all of the following conditions:

1. Be a registered member of Alibaba Cloud.

2. Have completed either individual or enterprise real-name verification.

II. Trial participation rules

Before you apply for a trial:

1. If you are a new product user for a specific cloud product category, you are eligible for one free trial of a single specification within that product category. Once you claim a trial for one specification, you are no longer eligible for free trials of other specifications in the same category.

2. You must confirm the specifications, region, and other details when claiming the trial. These cannot be changed after the trial is activated.

3. If an individually verified user has previously tried or purchased a product in this program, they cannot apply for another trial of the same product even after upgrading to an enterprise account.

4. Only new product users can try products marked with a "New Product User" label. A new product user is defined as a user who has never purchased or tried the product. This means you have no new purchase orders (even for CNY 0), no pay-as-you-go bills (even for CNY 0), and no previous trial orders for that product.

5. If your account has an outstanding balance, you must settle the payment before you can start a trial.

During the trial:

1. If you use other paid products or features, or if your usage exceeds the free trial limits, you will be charged at standard rates for the overage.

2. Free trial products are for the exclusive use of the trial account holder and cannot be transferred. If a trial product is refunded, you cannot participate in the trial again.

After the trial ends:

1. We will notify you by email and through the console's message center before your trial expires. You must choose to either renew or stop the service to avoid extra charges and potential data loss. If you upgrade during the trial, you may incur charges as indicated on the page.

2. When the free trial period ends or your usage exceeds the free tier limits, you will be charged at standard rates for any overage.

Other rules:

1. Alibaba Cloud reserves the right to adjust the scope, quantity, configuration, and rules of the free trial products at any time based on business needs. Your eligibility and the terms of your trial are based on the information displayed on the relevant pages at the time of your participation. These changes will not affect benefits you have already acquired.

2. The use of trial products for cryptocurrency mining is strictly prohibited. If you are found to be mining cryptocurrency, you may be charged for the usage and your trial eligibility may be revoked.

3. To ensure fairness, if a user is found to be engaging in fraudulent activities or using improper means to bypass rules and gain unfair benefits (such as cheating to claim offers, malicious cash-outs, network attacks, or fraudulent transactions), Alibaba Cloud reserves the right to revoke the relevant benefits, cancel the user's eligibility, void any non-compliant transactions, and, if necessary, pursue legal action.

III. Definitions

1. "Alibaba Cloud official website" refers to the website at https://www.aliyun.com/ and Alibaba Cloud clients such as the mobile app. It excludes Alibaba Cloud's international sites, including alibabacloud.com, jp.aliyun.com, and all their subpages.

2. "Single user" refers to an individual or entity that Alibaba Cloud determines to own multiple accounts, based on shared information such as a phone number, email address, or identity document.

3. "Affiliated accounts" refers to multiple Alibaba Cloud accounts owned by a single user.

4. "New user" refers to a registered Alibaba Cloud member who has no purchase history of paid cloud products on the Alibaba Cloud official website. A new user making their first purchase is also referred to as a "first-time buyer."

5. "Existing user" refers to a registered Alibaba Cloud member who has a purchase history of paid cloud products on the Alibaba Cloud official website.

6. "Cloud product" refers to products and services sold in Chinese mainland regions on the Alibaba Cloud official website. This excludes domains, virtual hosting, Alibaba Cloud Marketplace products, Apsara Stack products, and cloud communication products.

7. "Specified cloud product" refers to the cloud products listed on a specific activity page.

8. Terms like "discount," "X% off," or "save XXX" compare the promotional price of a product during the activity to its regular smallest unit price (for example, monthly price) for the same subscription duration outside of any promotional period.

9. Terms like "strikethrough price" or "regular price" generally refer to a previously displayed sales price, not the original price, and are for reference only. If a specific activity page provides a separate definition for these terms, that definition prevails.

10. Unless proven otherwise, the entity that completed real-name verification is responsible for all benefits obtained and obligations incurred on the account.

11. In the context of activities, "day" and "business day" refer to the 24-hour period from 00:00 to 24:00 (Beijing Time).

12. Alibaba Cloud may change or adjust the activity rules based on operational needs. Alibaba Cloud posts such changes on the activity page, and they take effect immediately. These adjustments will not affect any benefits you have already acquired. When purchasing an Alibaba Cloud product, you must also comply with its specific legal service agreement.

IV. Examples

Scenario 1: User A registers an Alibaba Cloud account, completes individual real-name verification, and has never purchased an ECS product. User A can successfully apply for a trial of a 1-vCPU, 2 GB ECS instance from the trial center. The configuration, region, and other details cannot be changed after confirmation.

Scenario 2: After completing the trial of the 1-vCPU, 2 GB ECS instance, User A tries to apply for a trial of a 2-vCPU, 4 GB ECS instance. The application fails because a user can only claim one configuration per product category.

Scenario 3: After completing the ECS trial, User A wants to try Object Storage Service (OSS). Since User A has never purchased OSS before, they are a new product user for OSS and the application is successful.

Scenario 4: After completing the ECS trial, User A registers a new Alibaba Cloud account with a different phone number and tries to apply for another ECS trial. The application fails because a single user can only apply for one trial per product category.

Long-term low-price benefits

I. ECS Economy (e) instance and ECS Universal (u1) instance

Activity period

From 00:00:00 on October 31, 2023, to 23:59:59 on March 31, 2027.

Eligibility

Alibaba Cloud users who meet all the following conditions:

1. Are a registered Alibaba Cloud member.

2. Have completed Alibaba Cloud real-name verification.

3. Meet the specific rules of the activity.

Participation rules

1. ECS Economy e-instance (also known as "99 instance" or "CNY 99 e-instance"): Individually or enterprise-verified users can purchase a specified e-instance configuration (2-vCPU, 2 GB, 3 Mbps fixed bandwidth, 40 GB ESSD Entry system disk) for CNY 99 for a 1-year subscription. 2. 3. Offer details:

During the activity period, a single individually verified user can hold only one "CNY 99 e-instance" at a time. A single enterprise-verified user can hold either one "CNY 99 e-instance" or one "CNY 199 u1 instance" at a time. After the instance expires, it can be renewed at the same low price as long as the activity is ongoing. Any additional purchases will be at the standard website price. This offer cannot be combined with coupons or vouchers.

Purchase scenarios

1. New Purchase: Eligible users can directly purchase the specified product configuration at the low price for a 1-year term. If the purchase fails, check if you have an existing instance or affiliated accounts that make you ineligible.

2. Renewal: During the activity period, the specified configuration can be renewed at the promotional price once per year for a 1-year term. This allows you to renew at CNY 99/year for three consecutive years, using the instance until October 30, 2027, for a total of four years.

Scenario 2: If you make a new purchase of a "CNY 99 e-instance" or "CNY 199 u1-instance" on March 31, 2027 (the last day before the activity ends), you can renew it once on the same day (extending the expiration to March 31, 2029). This allows you to use the instance until March 31, 2029, for a total of two years.

Scenario 3: If you make a new purchase of a "CNY 99 e-instance" or "CNY 199 u1-instance" on April 1, 2024, you can renew it for the first time between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025 (extending the expiration to April 1, 2026). You can renew it for a second time between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026 (extending the expiration to April 1, 2027). This allows you to renew at the CNY 99/199 price for two consecutive years and use the instance until April 1, 2027, for a total of three years.

3. Unsubscribe scenario:

A 5-day money-back guarantee is supported. After a refund, you retain eligibility for the "long-term low-price" offer and can purchase the promotional configuration again during the activity period.

4. Modify Configuration scenario:

If you modify the configuration of an existing instance to the "long-term low-price" configuration, the current billing cycle does not benefit from the low price, but you can renew it for one year at the CNY 99/199 price. If you modify, upgrade, or downgrade the "long-term low-price" configuration, you must pay the price difference based on standard website rates. FAQ:

1. If I buy a CNY 99/199 instance and then get a refund or release it, can I buy it again at the same promotional price?

A: Yes. The CNY 99/199 instances support a 5-day money-back guarantee. After a refund, you retain your eligibility and can purchase the promotional configuration again during the activity period.

2. The rules mention renewing once "per year." Does "year" mean a calendar year?

A: "Year" refers to the 1-year billing cycle of the cloud server. This means there must be at least one year between two renewals.

3. What is the maximum number of years I can enjoy the CNY 99/199 instance promotion?

2. Products exclusive to new enterprise users are available only to users who have completed enterprise real-name verification. Products exclusive to new users are available only to users who have completed real-name verification.

3. New product users can enjoy exclusive discounts on certain products, with the final details displayed on the checkout page. A new product user is someone who has no new purchase orders greater than CNY 0 and no pay-as-you-go bills greater than CNY 0 for a specific product. Other specific discount limitations, discount amounts, and purchase limits are subject to what is displayed on the page.

4. Some products and redemption vouchers do not support unsubscription. If you unsubscribe, any coupons used will be voided, and you will lose eligibility for the first-purchase discount on that product.

I. Activity benefit

Chinese university students who complete student verification can claim a CNY 300 voucher with no spending threshold.
