Asset Management has two core features. It provides tag usage data to guide the creation of brand tags. It also includes a custom tag feature that allows business staff to create tags for perspective analytics and audience filtering.
Tag Management:
This feature centralizes all tag assets in the current workspace and provides statistics on tag popularity. This information helps your organization understand tag usage, which supports both the application and development of tags.
For example, business staff can use popular tags to inform their decisions when they analyze or filter audiences. Data engineers can compare popular and unpopular tags to improve future tag creation.
Custom Tags:
Using Data Studio to combine existing tags into a new tag can be slow and can complicate communication between departments. The custom tag feature solves these issues by allowing business staff to use existing first-party data to create new tags, which improves efficiency.
Perspective analytics also does not support numeric tags, such as a purchase amount. The custom tag feature can convert numeric tags into enumerated tags for analysis. For example, you can create a custom tag from a 'purchase amount' tag. The new tag could be a 'purchase amount segment' with values such as '0–200', '200–500', and 'over 500'.
