Real-time Monitoring Service (RMS) provides application monitoring, custom monitoring, resource monitoring, distributed tracing, and alerting. This topic describes the billable items of RMS and their billing methods.
Billable items
The following table describes the billable items of RMS.
Billable item | Description | Billing method |
Application instance | RMS automatically installs an agent on the ECS instance that hosts your application instance. The agent collects application data, such as monitoring data, traces, and logs, and provides visualization for this data. By default, RMS also monitors the application's system metrics, JVM metrics, and specified service metrics. |

Log monitoring data | The agent directly collects application service logs, which are then processed and calculated into metrics. Billing for log monitoring data applies only to logs collected through custom monitoring configurations. Billing is based on the total daily log ingestion volume. Metric data is stored for 21 days by default. |

Metric monitoring data | The agent directly collects metric data, such as metrics for cloud-native resource objects and resources like CPU and memory. The metrics apply only to service pods. Billing is based on the total number of metrics collected per day. Metric data is stored for 21 days by default. |

Distributed trace requests | This is determined by the number of spans reported for a trace. Billing is based on the total number of spans per day. Trace data is stored for 21 days by default. |
