Description

When the sender sends a message through Microsoft Outlook and the recipient accepts the message, the following three issues occur:

  • Attachment not received

  • Text content into image format

  • The received attachment becomes winmail.dat

Cause

The cause of this problem is that when the sender uses Outlook tools to encode and package the mail for sending, if the format information is stored in the mail body according to Outlook's own standards according to the default RTF format, the client that does not have the RTF format cannot recognize the mail information, that is, it cannot be correctly parsed.

Solution

Notify the sender to modify the configuration of the client. This topic uses the Microsoft Outlook 2016 version as an example. The configurations of other versions are slightly different:

1. Open the Microsoft Outlook 2016 software, click File in the upper left corner, and then click Options.

2. Click Mail in Outlook Options, and then select HTML or Plain Text.

3. Drop down the Mail Format option, change the option to Convert to HTML Format or Convert to Plain text format when sending RTF mail to Internet recipients, and then click OK.

Applicable scope

  • Alibaba Mail
