Sender receives "You are not authorized to send emails to this account" error

Problem description

Mail delivery to an Alibaba Mail account fails. The sender receives the error message: "You are not authorized to send emails to this account."

Cause

The Alibaba Mail administrator has not enabled the policy that allows the recipient's account to receive emails from external domains.

Solution

The recipient must ask their Alibaba Mail administrator to enable the policy for receiving emails from external domains. After the administrator completes the following steps, the sender can resend the email.

1. Log on to the Alibaba Mail domain management console with an administrator account. In the navigation pane, choose Organization and Users > Employee Account Management.

2. Click the target mailbox account. For Receive from External Domains, select Allow, and then click Save.
