Create a mail domain in Alibaba Mail Enterprise Edition

Set the logon password for the group mailbox administrator

For security reasons, the administrator password is hidden the first time you use your mailbox. You must set the logon password for the super administrator account in the Alibaba Cloud Management Console.

Log on to the Alibaba Cloud Management Console and go to Mailbox List > Manage > Reset Password.

Create a mail domain

1. Log on to the Enterprise Edition management page.

2. In the navigation pane on the left, click the Add Domain button. Enter the required information and click Next to add the mail domain.

   Important

   Completing this step does not mean the domain is created successfully. To finish creating the domain in the Enterprise Edition, you must add the required DNS records and wait for them to take effect. For more information, see DNS record settings for Enterprise Edition.

3. If the domain status is MX verifying in the domain list after you add the domain, click MX verifying. Then, add the DNS records as prompted on the page that appears.

   Important

   To prevent domain name spoofing, you must verify ownership of some domain names before you can create an enterprise mailbox. This is why you may be redirected to a prompt page after you add a domain in Step 2.

   To verify ownership, click MX verifying in the domain list and set all the required DNS records for the domain name. When the records are set and have taken effect, your ownership of the domain name is verified.

   Domain status descriptions

   Status	Description
   MX verifying	The system is querying the MX information for the mail domain. This status may appear if the MX record has not been added or has not taken effect.
   MX taking effect	The MX information was added automatically and is waiting to take effect. This usually takes 2 to 4 hours.
   Verified	The mail domain is created and ready to use.
   Failed	Failed to create the mail domain. A mail domain with the same name may already exist.
   Paused	The mail domain is stopped because it has expired or violates platform policies.
   CNAME verifying	Verifying the ownership of the attached domain name.

Appendix

1. You can modify the configuration of a created mail domain. However, the number of accounts after the modification cannot be less than the number of existing accounts. The total storage space cannot be less than the used storage quota. For more information, see Modify the configuration of a mail domain in Alibaba Mail Enterprise Edition.
