Billing for backup and restore

Billing description

The backup and restore feature of ApsaraDB for OceanBase provides three types of backup services: local primary backup, local archive backup, and remote primary backup.

After you purchase a cluster instance or a serverless instance, a local backup and restore order is automatically generated. By default, only the local primary backup service is automatically enabled. You can manually enable the local archive backup and remote backup services as needed. For more information, see Backup strategies.

• If you are a subscription user, the backup and restore order automatically ends after the cluster instance order ends.

• If you are a pay-as-you-go user, you can click Release next to your cluster instance to release it.

  Note

  • When you release a cluster instance, you can retain the backup data. The backup data is billed based on the data type.

  • If a cluster instance enters the recycle bin after being released, no free quota is available for the backup data, including data backups and log backups.

The storage space used by backup files consists of two parts: the part for data backups and the part for log backups. They share the free quota.

• Local primary backup: A free quota of storage space is available for data backups and log backups. When the free quota is used up, you will be charged based on the excess storage usage and retention period.

  Note

  • If you use Standard Edition (History Database), no free quota is available for data backups and log backups. You will be charged based on the storage usage and retention period.

  • For other series, backups are retained for 7 to 30 days. No charges will be incurred within the free quota.

• Local archive backup: For backup files that require long-term retention and are not frequently used for restore, you can enable archive backup. After archive backup is enabled, backup files that exceed the retention period specified for primary backup will be migrated to the path where archive backup files are stored. No free quota of storage space is available for data backups and log backups. You will be charged based on the storage usage and retention period. You can use archive backup files for a free restore once every three months.

  Note

  Archive backup files must be retained for at least 60 days. You will be charged for 60-day retention even if the retention period is shorter than 60 days.

• Remote backup: No free quota of storage space is available for data backups and log backups. You will be charged based on the storage usage and retention period. Remote backup charges higher than local backup because remote replication occupies bandwidth resources.

Billing for backup services of cluster instances

Billing for primary backup

A free quota of storage space is available for data backups and log backups in primary backup. The following table describes how the free quota is calculated.

Note

When a backup is retained longer than the time specified in the backup strategy, the system deletes the backup to restore the backup quota.

Billing for archive backup

Archive backup files must be retained for at least 60 days. You will be charged for 60-day retention even if the retention period is shorter than 60 days. The following tables list the unit prices for archive data backups and archive log backups. You will be charged for 1 GB if the size is less than 1 GB.

Billing for remote backup

Billing for backup services of serverless instances

Local primary backup is supported for serverless instances. For primary backup, a free quota of storage space is available for data backups and log backups that are retained for no more than 7 days. The following table describes how the free quota is calculated.
